Weekly Fallen London Questions, 21/10/2024

Here’s this week’s thread for any Fallen London questions you’d like answered!

After the recent changes to cards, is it still possible to get the “1000 Nevercold Brass wanted!” card?

The effects of violant fade – you could brave Zenith’s High Sancta once more..

Isn’t that exactly what violent never does?

That is an oximoron if I have ever seen one.

I can’t seem to get A Chained Volume a second time. I got it once, patiently waited till my Anathema Unchained was gone, and then have never gotten it again, despite having visited the stacks at least two dozen times without Anathema since then. That seems well beyond what would be likely to be just the RNG really hating me.

I’ve got An Interloper in the Library 44, A True Denizen of the Neath, and I can’t see but assume I have Claimed a Chained Volume once, since I have claimed it once.

Any ideas what I’m missing?

Could be just RNG. After the first draw it becomes a rare card instead of standard frequency. Wiki doesn’t list any extra requirements for it.

It’s a very rare volume. The low frequency makes it more susceptible to high variance. I’ve certainly gone more than a dozen eligible expeditions without encountering it, I think once close to twenty. You’re a bit more than that, but within the normal bounds of RNG cruelty.

Alright, I’ll just keep praying to the RNG for mercy. Thanks!

Is the ‘Pass the Cat’ card locked or unlocked by any qualities or contacts? I have never seen it in my opportunity deck yet. I need to obtain four Starveling Cats.

There’s a thread in the forum to ask for one from other players. You’ll probably regret it, though. Be warned!

You can’t draw the card while you have an existing catbox in your inventory, but otherwise I’m not aware of any requirements.

However if you want starvling cats the card wont do you any good—you’ll need other people to draw the card and then choose “pass it on” and send it to you, which will then offer a chance at the cat you’re looking for.

Of all the items that can be sold for 312.50 Echoes at the Bazaar, which one is the easiest to farm now?

Is it Tears of the Bazaar, via upconverting Airag from TLU city?

Doubtful, simply because it takes 7 Airag to upconvert instead of 5.

The true answer is probably “any Rat Market item on the right week,” although I’m not sure which week that is.

[edit] Actually, on the topic of TLU, Captivating Ballads are probably the answer. Whatever item the Rat Market is selling on weeks they buy Captivating Ballads. But, only the first 2-3.

The only way to get Starveling Cats without the help of another player is through a Bundle of Oddities. It’s how I got mine (I didn’t even want it. I was just trying to get my soul back). Thing is that it only shows up at a value of 99 so its a game of luck if that’s the way you go.
