What’s the most profitable thing one can do with Favours: Constables?

No announcement on here about the War in Spite? Another world quality collection of goodies?

Looks like one of them Living World Event thingies, like the crab hunt. And in this case, it’s structured as PVP? And we’re playing the role of arms dealers to small children? Awesome.

If you’re endgame, probably spend them to get human ribcages, stick fossilized forelimbs and a horned skull on those ribcages, declare as ape and sell to a buyer that cares about antiquity or antiquity+menace (depending on whether you care about bone market exhaustion or not).

Blimey, I’m mortified.

My journal entries started showing dates from the accursed 21st century, instead of the actual dates. Has this happened to anyone else?
If so, is there any word about the regrettable phenomenon, such as if it is a mistake due to be fixed, or (Storm forbid!) a permanent new status quo?

It is the new status quo, since going forward the year is 1899, just like last year, so in-world dates would no longer be unique.

What is the best way to grind Persuasive? My alt is at 135 base and 163 modified.

The Revolution seriously needs to get rid of the Traitor Empress and her vile spawn. Those abominable tyrannts have no right to drag real world into the Neath - and retroactively at that.

If it really is planned to stay this way, I’m positively heartbroken. As if it wasn’t enough to have to contend with 2020s everywhere one looks, now it has polluted one of the last refuges of fin de siécle make-believe :(

Personally I think putting a year in those journal entries was always a mistake. At least a year that’s shown so prominently. Showing 2021 is out of character, showing 1899 would get confusing, and showing 1900 is also inappropriate for a game that’s meant to be in the Victorian Era. (Yes, you could write a story and say that in your world Queen Victoria lived for 10,000 years, so your futuristic spaceships are technically Victorian Era, but that’s cheating and you know it.)

From the very beginning the game should have said “London was stolen by bats about 30 years ago, in the early 1860s,” and then stuck to that line no matter how many decades passed in real time.

P.S. If those dates were ever meant to be in character, then it was also an immersion break to allow you to journal the beginning and ending of the 26-action Port Carnelian carousel in the same day. Those 26 actions take at least several months in-universe.

Well, I for one find the dates quite useful for orientation. In fact, I’ve created a datelist of echoes of the (very, very many) Exceptional stories and other lore-heavy bits of echoed content I’ve saved. For easy perusal of the echoed stuff, I found orientation via the dates simpler and easier than creating a hyperlink to a single particular echo at the beginning of the storyline.

Now this list (which for me is also an expression of my collectorial nature) is quite a bit less comprehensive, and using the real-world dates breaks the immersion whenever I wish to go through my Echo Journal. Previously, these felt like a rendering of my character’s adventures - fictionalized, literary and symbolical, what with allowing you to cover month-long projects within a single day, but nevertheless in-universe. Now it feels like… entries covering an online game I’ve been playing, pretending I’m someone cool and interesting for years on end.

The difference makes me feel rather sad.

Completely agree with your overall sentiment, but technically Victoria didn’t die until 1901 in real life. :P

I actually think they could have let time march on until 1910 or so with minimal problems, but I’m very glad they didn’t. Temporal vagueness and perma-1890s fits the game’s vibe better, and if in the future they want to tweak that vibe and explore the technological/cultural/(a)historical developments of the first decade of the 1900s, they’ve left a path open for themselves to do so. Quite pleased overall with their approach.

I’m not even sure this can be legitimately answered, but once one has completed the Discordance run, is there any point in playing the related card in the Nadir, other than to reset a quality for cards outside of the Nadir? (I like the middle one, but can’t really figure out if it’s better or worse than the others.)

For my lab, I need about 23 more first city coins to hire the numismatrix. Is there an easy way to get these? All hthe options I see are either cards or require the heart’s desire ambition.

Someone could send them to you, but I show you as not eligible. Are you not in London? (Or do I have too many acquaintances?)

As far as I can tell, no. It gives a Discordant Soul, but there’s no use for those. I accumulated a few and then stopped.

I didn’t notice my scandal had tipped over to 8 while in my lab. I left and sorted that out so it should work now. Thanks!

Yes. Once you’ve hit the cap you’ll start getting Discordant Souls, which you can trade for about 60e worth of lesser souls at the cost of one level of Glasswork.

“Another Mouth” is the best one (and also the hardest to get, since you have to tie the First and Second Circle). It’s the only one of the three without any cards that take away resources as well as giving you profit.
