Weekly Fallen London Questions, 16/11/2020

Don’t both of those require one stat to be at 200 unmodified?

I think Lab and Bone Market can both be accessed with not-to-far progression. The Railway, and therefore Helicon House, will require more advanced progression.

How much of the various common resources is good to have lying around? I’m sitting on over a thousand of various things (Rostygold, rats, silk scraps, etc) and am wondering how much I can safely sell without risking not having enough for random stories

Keep as much as possible. Echos are least useful of all resources and easiest to get.

I’m in need of possessions that raise Bizarre by +2 or +3, in order to raise Bizarre to 15. Currently my hat, weapon, boots, affiliation and home comfort give +1 each, while my gloves, companion and transportation give +2 each.

Storm Bird gives +3. If you’re willing to change your club, The Clay Tailor is +4.

I think only the upgraded Storm-bird gives Bizarre, and the window for getting one of those has closed. Hubris is in a similar situation - he’s taken the non-Bizarre options for most choices and is now five points short of being able to sell a skeleton for Breaths.

https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/Bizarre_Items if you want to browse the full list to see what’s available to you.

So, as a relatively very Bizarre player here’s what can be of help:
-First, the Winged Creature of Considerable Speed (+3), I think that was the Companion which PJ wanted to name, which you can only get during Hallowmas by upgrading with confessions a normal Storm-Bird;
-Alternatively, there’s an opportunity card which lets you find a Blemmigan Tourist (+2). I have to say that it’s a pretty rare card, even if I nailed it and got it when I had just began my FL run;
-The Clay Tailor (+4), as PJ said;
-The Clay Sedan Chair (+2), a Transportation which you can buy at a fair prize at the Bazaar Side-Street;
-If you search on google “Fallen London codes” you may be able to find the codes that Failbetter gave at the beginning of the year (they should still work) which will give you many interesting items and, most importantly, the Judgemental Hat (+1), which I think is also hilarious;
-The Moderately Co-Operative Clothes-Colony (+1), which you can get at Polythrene;
There are other items but, from what I know, those are ambition items or festivity items. Hope it was usefull.

Zodiac36gold, a sagacious shadow with the ambition to win 100 chess games. Will accept any invitation to those, always.

Also, anyone has any advice for grinding bones? I am in a terrible situation regarding those.

Early on, you can get arms from Criminal Favors, ribcages from Constable Favors, and legbones from the grandmother. You can buy Brass Skulls.Those will give your basic bones. Once you can make a duplicator, you can make a cheaper skull from a head of John the Baptist.

Once you hit Ealing Gardens, the Butcher can be use the duplicator to make a lot of bones from Whitsun and Monster Hunting critters (all non fate) as well as a couple birds you can hunt or a bat. There will be a card to find bones that offers a pretty big variety of bones. Once you have access to a well stocked butcher and keep using the bone searching cards, you can have a good wide selection. Helicon House offers a few more exotic ones. You will find more speciality bones as you add stations, but Ealing Gardens will take care of most of your needs for awhile.

Fate-locked Flute Street is decent source of Amalgamy bones. You can buy ancient hands in Upper River. The geology of Winewound (London card) have excellent menacing tail.

Thank you all. That was usefull

Thinking about ditchin the Revolutionary Firebrand as a spouse (I’ve seen another option that I think suits my character better, even though it is not as good mechanically). If I do this will I have lost him forever as a spouse or can you get him back if you change your mind? Just want to know if the step I am considering is irrevocable or not.

Can’t even remember how I got him. Was it something to do with one of the festivals?

What are Forged Justificande Coins good for?

Nothing.

Assuming the Firebrand functions the same as the Secular Missionary, divorcing them removes them as a spouse and puts the &quotmarry them&quot storylet back in your Social Engagements in the pile of proposal options, which takes an action to undo (or redo, so to speak) but otherwise only asks that you not have the &quotCommitted&quot quality nor be &quotmarried to them specifically&quot quality (which seems redundant but what do I know). It also gives us this eccentric plural:

Easiest to get? That’s certainly news to me. Outside of selling things, I have found may two cards that give any amount of dosh. What am I missing?

You can sell things.

There’s no amount of “common” resources that I would keep if I needed the echoes to buy something. They’re common, so you can just get more of them if you need them.

Conversely, I would never sell anything just to get echoes that I didn’t plan to immediately spend. I might want the resource later for some reason, and I can always sell it whenever I need cash.
