Here’s this week’s thread for quick questions!
The Fruits are here!
The Fruits are here!
My first visit to the Cove allowed me to swap Viscount(ess) collars if I wished (14+ Picking), so lacking a new mayor it seems the old one’s junk is still cluttering the place up! I might give it another pass or two, but with a new, slightly different use for Strange Catches I don’t think the Cove has anything new if one found all the items last year.
Interesting. No new items so far this year, then? Or anything Zeefarer-related?
Oh I’m extremely excited about the new story-making options! I wonder if we only get to choose three…
Were there new catch-related options last year? I missed the Festival then for various reasons. .

Yes. Quite.
Gloves with Player of Chess and +2 BDR at picking 18-20. There is no other equipment that gives either.
Hat that gives Red Science at picking 26-28. The only other item with that stat is part of Ambition: Heart’s Desire.
Thank you very much! What a year I missed, it seems!
Does anyone know a good late-game way of reducing Scandal?
I mean, we can effectively wipe out both Nightmares and Wounds in the Parabolan Base-Camp. We can build a cozy little office at Ealing Gardens to deal with Suspicion. With all of these, these three Menaces are almost not bothering anymore.
But I can’t find anything similar for Scandal. Most of the time, I just keep it in line while doing lab work. But the can’t get it any lower than 4, and it’s less convenient anyway.
There’s the chapel you could have built instead of the post office at Ealing, I guess. I’ve been sending letters written in Gant. Works for suspicion, too, if you don’t shuffle Airs often enough for Confound the Constables to have take care of it
It’s not late-game, but you can always attend a church service at your social engagements - not 100% success rate so definitely wasting a few actions, but it’ll bring Scandal down to 3 at least.
Weird. I only got two options there — a clinic (Wounds) and the post office (Suspicion). Probably depends on some qualities, I guess.
Never liked that option, honestly. 30% chance to gain Scandal instead of losing it always unnerved me. And there was a few times when I came there with high Scandal and ended up in the Tomb Colonies.

As it goes for any Menace, social actions work best. Unless you built the Chapel, late-game doesn’t have better options than early-game. Personally I like ‘Associating with the Legacy of the Anchoress’ in Ladybones Road. It costs 3 actions, but also gains you 4.5 echoes worth of resources and a bit of MW. And you don’t have to deal with RNG.
Sure you can! The card appears for adjusted Scandal lvl 5. Assuming you have & tactfully equip +4 Scandal gear you can get all the way to 0. From a roleplaying perspective it may be embarrassing to walk into your lab wearing a barrel, but trust me, your assistants are a lot nicer and more forgiving than those gossiping church goers.

I was thinking more of Scandal around 5-6 to start with - that generally works out for me. I don’t really care about maximizing actions so I don’t mind that it takes a while to reduce my Scandal to 2-3 because eventually it will - just works out with the probabilities. You could always drink an Instant Ablution Absolution if you’re in imminent danger of being transported to the Tomb Colonies…?
I presume my students are going to love the look of me wearing a barrel, a pair of scarlet stockings and nothing else. Well, maybe a hat.
The Annoying Artist might just consider me his new muse.
Thank you for the idea!
Is there any information from FBG regarding Exigent Notes? I have quite a few of those already, and I wonder if there will be some special purpose for them, or are they merely to be sold for 62.5E?
Interesting. I only have the one note I got in connection with the Great Fall. Could you please tell me about how to get other Exigent Notes? Feel free to PM me or put it in a spoiler tag if you wish.
‘The Aftermath of the Great Sink’ card has an option that grants them. You need to donate Bessemer Steel to get them.
Huh. I’ve only seen that card once, and we have a router problem that still makes it impossible for me to access the Wiki from home. I will keep on the look out for the card. Thanks!
I haven’t seen the actual quote, but according to the scuttlebutt on the discord, Bruno has said that it isn’t intended as a unique reward for the festival. If you have a few already, I don’t think you’ll regret not going out of your way to get more.
