Weekly Fallen London Questions, 15/01/2018

Well, it should. Do keep in mind that the information that had been furnished there had been provided by another user, and not Failbetter staff who know about this. That user might not have set a question, and if that option does wipe out the question quality, it won’t appear for the player at all.
I used it a few times. It doesn’t take A Question or wounds at least.

Giving up the search now presumably wipes everything that you have obtained through Seeking.

By the way, the wiki entry for the option to end the search under a &quotBad End&quot might not have been updated. It is supposed to wipe everything, like the entry for asking Mrs Plenty to free the player character does.

Using a Bad End definitely does not remove everything Mrs Plenty’s option does. You will keep any Scars, Chains, or Stains you may have acquired. Scars can only be removed in Flute Street, Stains can only be removed in Flint, and Chains are permanent.

Huh. I thought that this has been updated already.

Looking at the text for the options, it would appear that Mrs. Plenty throws in the bonus of removing the Seven self-detriments.

I have a question.

What reliable methods are there to grind large amounts of Bottles of Greyfields 1882?

Also, what reliable methods are there to grind Cellars of Wine?

Thanks to Kaigen for answering my questions. Thank you.
I just redicovered Flash Lays. As a Shepherd of Souls, I am often menace-free and the hard option seemed quite profitable to me. What do follower Londoners think?
It’s a nice change of pace, but you have to have a lot of actions (like, Exceptional Friend-level actions) to spend in one go, and you need a reliable supply of second chances, the actions for which eat into the profitability for a bit.
What reliable methods are there to grind large amounts of Bottles of Greyfields 1882?

Also, what reliable methods are there to grind Cellars of Wine?
The best fully reliable option for the 1882 to my knowledge is Unfinished Business in Ladybones. Slightly less reliable (but more action efficient if not time efficient) is calling in Society favours at the Shuttered Palace.

Cellars of Wine are most easily obtained by converting up bottles of Broken Giant 1844, though that requires Church Favours. If you have a ship and are breeding monsters in the Labyrinth, giving the Bishop Hounds of Heaven also provides a few (along with some Broken Giant and Church favours), though that is a bit less efficient.

Yes, I have burned from 18 to 26 actions in one go. They do eat second chances, since they are one of the few truly challenging options in-game, but thankfully Christmas cards had left me with a pile of those. However, they lack a) a Fallen London flavor (weird, but they could play out anywhere in the world) and b) Dangerous challenges, which is a pity. They proved good for raising stats after the Nadir, and they are quite profitable, but honestly they should have a shorter option like heists do.

What happens to A Fine Piece after you become a Poet-Laureate? Do you get to keep anything leftover as a memento? Can you earn more if you keep writing works (only with no further way to spend it)?

With 24 BDR to what level should I raise the saloon quality to go from 6 notability to 12? I need to be sure I’m ready before I leave most of my earthly possessions to visit a certain island

How would one raise heartless in a pinch? the changes to the quirk system are making this really hard.

A huge amount. Just going from 11 to 12 is going to require 1980 CP of Making Waves. Since you have to liquidate your possessions anyway, maybe invest all of that in rats and then use serial weddings to get your Notability up if that doesn’t offend your sensibilities.

If you’re a spirifer you’ll gain Heartless up to 15 by turning in souls to Hell’s Fence. Otherwise there are a number of opportunity cards but nothing &quotin a pinch&quot springs to mind.[li]

With 24 BDR you just subtract 4 level from current level * 4. So level 12 will require level 40 MW which is 820 CP only.
If you are an active player you can get from 11 to 12 in less than 1 week only by using T3 side conversion. If you already have a big pile of honey, RN, Visions (and any other of the items that give MW) it can be done faster.

I have a meta-question. If the email account that I use to log into Fallen London is my gmail account, what would happen if I were to log in with my Google account?

I’m not certain, but I BELIEVE that signing in normally and via Google are roughly equivalent. I logged in with Google for the longest time, and switching to simply using the same email and password worked just fine (and spared me having to constantly log out of my Google account).

A question of my own: Has that sidebar snippet about the Tabernacle always been there? I only just saw it now, and mis-clicked it away…

Edit: I also saw another new? one about the Elder Continent, and wells filled only with sand.

If it helps: When I attempted to sign in via Google, a screen popped up asking me to choose which gmail account I would be using. Because I only had one gmail account, I clicked that one and ended up at the character creation screen, at which I thought better of it and backed off. My original account still exists, but I am fearful that if I create a new character via Google, I would end up deleting my original character.

Signing in via an email and that email’s google account creates different characters, both of which can be accessed by using the appropriate options on sign-in (the normal [name],[password], sign in for the email’s account and the Google+ button for google’s account.

(All of my alts are pretty much the same email but using all the different access options FBG gives)

I hope you are right.

Thank goodness. You were correct. I am grateful for your answer.

Anyone know if Adrift on a Sea of Misery is capped, or if not, how high someone has gotten it? Just curious, really.

I’m pretty sure it isn’t capped, but other than “high” I can’t say what the highest is.

Did we get new updates for creating a work at court? I went to make a song and noticed I had an option for renown: revolutionaries and another unfamiliar one (I dont remember what it was grr) I don’t remember those from even the latest court update, are those new or am I just oblivious?

I’ve gotten it up pretty high, although I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has it even higher. I haven’t encountered an action where the gain was capped.
