Weekly Fallen London Questions, 14/12/2020

To make something of what little time we have left in the face of the inexorable approach of Christmas, here’s this week’s quick questions thread!

Has anyone figured out how to make the sorbet at Station VIII yet?

Has anyone found what the celebrated artists’ model as a spouse does in helicon house?

I’ve looked high and low and it seems like it’s just nothing. No entry bonus, no special storylet, a bit of modified text at most. Which surprises me considering it’s a pretty bohemian location.

I hope that one’s something good, cause that’s my spouse, chose her over the jewel thief…mind you, this was before the options expanded.

I seem to recall, that she (very) slightly increased the reward for ending your time by agreeing to model for an npc’s art piece, but I may be remembering wrong.

I checked that, but I thought the bonus there was the same as for any other companion.

It might be. I don’t have any of the other companions, so she was all I could test.

Just as reminder, when does the 12 days of Mr Sacks start?
I dont want to miss this, because I’m outside of london.

Allright, in that case I have plenty of time for my planned activities out of london. ty.

Is grinding Collated Research in Wilmot’s End a good way to grind Esteem of the Guild via &quotEngage in a public debate&quot? By my calculations it’s 22 actions + 2 to exchange it for two Esteem. Or is there a better way?

Using fractions to represent repeated loops, one needs 1 act to convert 50 Memories to 10 Volumes, 0.48 acts to convert 240 Salts to 50 Memories, and 0.08 acts (plus 1.2 Salts) to get back the Benthic Reputation. Compared to the Wilmot’s End 22 acts, one still has 20.44 leftover actions to make a mere 48.24 Echoes to afford the salts: 2.36 EPA suffices, 3.125 EPA saves 5 whole actions per loop. I’m certain this can be refined by incorporating Bone Market shenanigans, but that definitely multiplies complexity. As for the general &quotis there a better way&quot, I think every better option regrettably involves Card Draw in some capacity, which is not as grindable as it once was.

While I’m lacking time right now for the necessary calculations, you could also collect Memories of distant Shores via Bone Market and Sworn Statements by trading in Attar in Arbor. While dependant on drawing cards, it may be an alternative.

I’m finding it difficult to keep up with recent changes. I have a dim memory that the cap on Renown has been raised to 55. Or is that only in my head?

Renown cap is 55, yes.

Thanks for affirming my somewhat tentative connection with reality.

Hi everyone. I’ve been invited to play a game of chess by another person but, when I press respond, it only lets me decline (which I donn’t want) and the other options say that I cannot accept because I am "Chess: a partner anyone,
Could you explain what this is?

Take a look here (especially the part for Social Actions):

I think that already answers your question, even if it seems like they have retired the activities a little earlier than anounced.

Thank you for the help. I will miss chess but who knows, maybe they’ll insert the new Parabolan Rules in the play (a fantasy of mine).

Chess definitely hasn’t been retired yet, though - I’ve played multiple games of it today…
