Weekly Fallen London Questions, 14/09/2020

Here’s this week’s quick questions thread!

Asking for a friend (certainly not myself):
Is there any way to UNreport a comment you’ve reported by fat-fingering your device?
edited by Snort on 9/15/2020

Afraid not - when a comment is reported, a squad of Special Constables is sent to Remove the offending commenter, and they are under strict instructions not to be dissuaded from their mission under any circumstances. (Don’t worry about it - we just see the comment is fine and tick it off the list!)

Is anyone else unable to log in because the game doesn’t recognize their credentials?

I was already logged in, but the game crashes for me.

Just tried in a new private tab, no login possible with the saved credentials. So I can confirm your problem.

Well hopefully it’s just a login issue and not Failbetter accidentally chucking everyone’s account details down a Well.

Well now my Accounts back up.

I seem to not be getting getting any Visits from Slowcake’s Amanuensis in my deck (am a POSI) - anyone else?

The Amanuensis is notorious for not showing up when you need him. The RNG may be a unfeeling piece of computer code, but nonetheless it takes joy in our misery.

I saw him earlier today, he’s still doing the rounds. But I don’t need him, which is why he’s giving me the time of day.

I keep getting warned about going to New Newgate too many times–how many times is too many, and are the effects especially detrimental?

Getting thrown into New Newgate raises your “A Criminal Record” quality. If this is too high, then you won’t be able to use Ablution Absolutions anymore. If it gets even higher, then getting sent to New Newgate will be significantly more costly to your character.

Details on the Wiki, if you’re curious: https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/ARRESTED!

Note firstly that Criminal Record used to be permanent, but as of a few weeks ago, there is now a very very expensive way to reduce it, all the way at the end of the current end-game content.

Note secondly that if you need to go to New Newgate, there is one way in that doesn’t increase Criminal Record, which is failing to rob the Brass Embassy.

Getting a Memory of Chains also sends you to New Newgate without increasing Criminal Record, if you’re foolish enough to seek the Name.

If you have enough Making Waves and at least 1 Notability, go to your Social Engagements and you can force him to appear (note: this does not cost either notability or MW).
