Weekly Fallen London Questions, 12/10/2020

Here’s this week’s questions thread!

Is there any way to reliably get hinterland scrip without already having opened up the railway story? I just “sold” all of my notability for a higher POSI rank and it’ll take a long time to work up enough MW to get back up to 7, especially considering I don’t have any contacts for guaranteed salon visits.

The Bone Market. There are a few different options there. 3 different buyers will pay in Scrip for skeletons, and a few buyers will give Scrip for non-skeletons.

If you have echoes to spare, the most efficient way to “convert” them into Scrip is through Bright Brass Skulls. Buy a skull, stick it on a skeleton to increase the value, sell that skeleton for Scrip. The most difficult part of the skeleton to acquire is a torso; you can overpay in the bone market, turn in Constables favors in the shuttered palace, or try to draw a card in Wolfstack.

If you have access to Parabola, another good way to increase your skeleton value is giving Fruit from the Tree to the Bohemian, and another source of Torsos is hunting a chicken that you can only acquire during Whitsun.

The best to sell to would be the Author of Gothic Tales (if you’re able to reach 7D 7R) over Mrs. Plenty because she gives 5 extra scrip per skeleton.

Anyone knows the best way to spend “Investigating…” without burning everything in one go? I got to level 22 through repeating the Rubbery Hound action on Helicon House but there doesn’t seem to be any decent way to spend all these points and getting a fair amount of echos/script in return…

sorry if this has been asked already, but whyy is the price of proscribed material $1.01 in the Bazaar when the sell value of proscribed material is only $0.04 (and inklings of identity (the step above proscribed material) is only $0.10)? seems reaaaally disproportionate. for reference, an infernal contract goes for $0.40 in the Bazaar, but sells for $0.20 (much more proportionate).

Because these prices are arbitrary.

Because during seeking there’s a specific point where you need an exact number of proscribed material, so it’s price got messed with to punish seekers, and it just kind of stayed that way.

Salutations! I have a question regarding the Light Fingers Ambition (if this is the wrong place to ask, I apologize and please let me know where to head!) - is it definitely necessary to be a Silverer at some point? Access to a Parabolan Basecamp is apparently possible through other means as well, however if I’d need to be a Silverer sometime in the future for this storyline anyway, then I’d rather know now, change Professions (it is a grind after all to reach the 3rd tier again) and find access to Parabola again as a Silverer.
Thank you for any advice!

Being a Silverer makes a certain option cheaper, but is not required.

Where do I go to continue with “Following up Rumours of Cornelius”? I currently have it at 4.

I believe intercepting letters in Balmoral, using your Cabinet Noir

Where do you get the piece of post for &quotPlans for the Surface&quot in Balmorral?

Steal it from the dumbwaiter in the castle. https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/Intercept_a_message_(Balmoral_Kitchens)
You have to discover the dumbwaiter first, though https://fallenlondon.fandom.com/wiki/Track_what_the_Highwaymen_are_doing_in_these_parts

Is anyone else having issues on Android?

For ages now, places like the Bone Market have been impossible for me, unless I use desktop or my partner’s iPhone, as so much as clicking an item in “Possessions” causes so much lag it can take 30 to 60 seconds to load a description or equip at best, or outright crash my browser at worst.

No issues on Pixel 2.

On my phone I had to switch to Chrome to play, but it works smoothly now on Android.

Can one cycle through different appointments to Balmoral’s Castellan any number of times at sequential board meetings? I’d like to &quotaudition&quot everyone once before selecting a final occupant, but don’t want to get locked out of later options by my first replacement opportunity this next board meeting if it is a one-time option. Thanks!

Is the new Helicon House money grind more profitable if you use gained casing for a heist?
