Weekly Fallen London Questions, 11/05/2020

Here’s this week’s quick questions thread!

I’ve just noticed storylet in my lab enticing me to drink my Darkdrop coffee. Don’t remember ever seeing that before, but then again that fellow in “Memento” had a better memory than I have. Is this new?

It’s new.

Does Prisoner’s Honey cause or promote caries?

Do I need any qualities besides a specific Airs of Parabola to unlock/see the Viric jungle option whilst hunting? Eg Dreams?

Yes, you had to share a romantic vision during Feast of the Rose. Without it you won’t even see the options.

Really? I did not notice that. Blimey, that’s a bit rough.

Adding tie ins and connections to the game isn’t something I would actually call rough. :)

I agree, our old formerly &quotthrow-away&quot qualities being given some kind of a purpose is a good thing. It’s just a bit of a switch from how things generally used to work, and may well come as an unpleasant surprise to some.

In my post I was expressing some empathy with Honeyaddict there rather than complaining about the situation, because I know they were quite keen on going to the Viric Jungle and getting that suit.

Ah damnit, I wasn’t paying attention during the Feast of the Rose, I was only on for two days during that event… Oh well, I hope I can just get it next year, I really love Parabola and the Neathbow colours!

Yeah, I’d assume that since it has a use, it’ll be a repeating thing available each year.

Also, it’s a bit of growing pains… Viric stuff is late-game content, so usually people that get to it should have at least one Feast under their belt. It’s just weird the first time it was introduced, since people who missed the one chance might have to wait until the next year to get it.

I’d assume nothing, because nothing can stop them from changing it. Hallowmas was switched forth and sideways several times in a row.

Nothing can stop them, but the more it’s tied to other content (especially as a gate), the less likely it is to change, IMO. It makes sense that there’s going to keep being a way to access that area of Parabola.

Obviously, we don’t know for sure. But I think there’s no reason to get think that people who don’t have access now are locked out forever.

It’s been a while since I’ve played Fallen London, and I’ve only recently started again. How can one set up a Parabolan Base Camp? Other than by being a Glassman and doing it at the Honey Den, I mean.

It seems a Parabolan Base Camp can also be set up by heading to the University and setting up a University Lab.

Light Fingers and Heart’s Desire players will also be given a chance to establish a base camp without doing the research.

Normally when I complete a plan it moves to the Completed Plans section, but today, I completed the plan to increase Notability, and it disappeared completely. Since I had marked this as a plan specifically to be able to tell how many MW I’d need…that’s very inconvenient. Bug or change, do you think?

I suppose I might have unclicked the plan button on the action itself by mistake, but I don’t think so…

I’ve had this happen too, recently, and more than once: it seems to be a current bug.

Good to know, thanks! I’ll do a bug report. :)

Cora Bagley could only provide me with 14 x Parabolan Research at a time, and I noticed that this value did not seem to be affected by the increase or decrease of Glasswork. So is that all she can do? Did anyone ever get more from her?
