Here’s this week’s quick questions thread!
Who would win in an armwrestling match between Mr. Iron and Mr. Veils?
The question is wrong. You should ask who would win between Mr. Apples and Mr. Hearts.
As to Iron vs Veils - Veils is dead. Otherwise, Mr. Wines would win (the bet).
Any news on the plans for character ending content? I’m really interested in the mechanics of ending my character and starting a new one in a slightly altered Fallen London.
Also, which faction knows more about the mysteries of Fallen London - the Criminals or the Urchins?

No news on that. Wait and see, you won’t be forced to do it anyway, so no rush.
I acknowledge your trolling attempt with the second question, but clearly your heart wasn’t in it, no cookie for you.

The most recent update is from a few weeks ago. If you’ve seen that already, nothing since then.

I actually don’t understand the meaning, I’d meant no offense. I was thinking of aligning my next character with either the criminals or the urchins but the connected professions (Licentiate & Crooked Cross) don’t particularly stand out to me. So then I thought that one of these factions might be more interesting from a lore perspective.
The Urchins are connected to Storm, especially Slivvy. The Criminals don’t seem to be connected to any particular mysteries, unless you count being in possession of smuggled sunlight.
Although Crooked-Crosses aren’t really aligned with Urchins. Trickster is equally aligned with Hell and Urchins, and Conjurer is plausibly still connected to Urchins, but a Crooked-Cross is unequivocally Infernal.

Well, Criminals are mostly bottom feeders in regard to any particular knowledge, while Urchins are connected to Storm, know quite a bit about the Bazaar and Masters, can enter Parabola and recognize Fingerkings there and routinely work with Correspondence, among other things.
Crooked Cross works for Hell, Licentiate isn’t particularly aligned with Criminals also.

My understanding is that the Crooked Cross works for the Counter-Church, though considering the rewards for the profession I wouldn’t be surprised if it was started by Hell-aligned interests. The content surrounding the Crooked Cross is interesting though, and seems to go beyond the Hell v. Church struggle.
As ever, straight answers are rare in the Fifth City. I would be curious for lore on the Crooked Cross and the Counter-Church.
And of course, thank you for the review. I’m thinking of rolling my next char as a Crooked Cross aligned with Urchins.

I’ve been a Crooked Cross for several years now, and I still have no clear idea of who or what the Counter-Church is, as they don’t tell you when you join. Or if they did I was staring out of the window at some people playing football in the park instead of paying attention. Where is the content that gives out lore about it? I appear to have missed it.
Counter-Church started to be mentioned after the addition of the Bone Market. My bet it wasn’t written at all before this wave of content.
Regardless, it’s still heavily influenced by Hell, while Bohemians simply flock to everything with a whiff of epatage and counter-culture.
As to Hell vs Church struggle… Well, it’s very one-sided. “For all the Saints” ES provides a perspective from the devils’ side.
Ah, thanks. Have had a quick sniff around the bone market but that’s all. Didn’t really seem like my kind of thing, but I get the impression I’m going to have to start using the place if I want to progress at all with some of the new things happening in London.
Haven’t gone very deep at all into the content that’s been cropping up over the spring and summer. I’ve started building a railway line, but it doesn’t go anywhere yet. I do hope there aren’t any commuters relying on me, because they are going to be in for a long wait. Maybe after the railways get nationalised in the 1940s, and then privatised again in the 1990s - maybe by then I’ll have finished the line. But I wouldn’t bet on it.

Do I need to contact FBG or am I missing something? The game tells me to convene a board meeting to deal with the very latest stoppage on the railway, but - even after my TtH just come - there’s no option at all in my board room.
I think that’s as far as you can get for now, though there isn’t an unavailable placeholder storylet as there usually is when one hits a content boundary.
Speaking of board meetings, is the wiki right in saying that a rare success when paying out dividends gives snuff? Are there any requirements in terms of board members, charters, train upgrades, etc.?
I have seen the snuff one time. I don’t know requirements, but I’ll tell you that I’m fully upgraded, with a scientific charter, and have the Widow, Jenny, Virginia, and the Efficient Commissioner. Probably none of those are required and it’s just random, though.

Got snuff once, last week, after quite some tries. Jenny, Virginia, Efficient Commissioner, Amused Lordship, Dean of Xenotheology. Charity Charter. All train upgrades I know of as well (Luxuries, Baggage, Defense - all are at 6). Was assuming it is just usual rare success stuff.

Is it normal for a failure to be so much more profitable than a success, with the same text attached to boot?
On "Observe the behaviour of a Storm-bird in the vicinity of Mr Spices", I get 5 Blackmail Material on failing, but only 2 on succeeding, and both lose me the bird and grant me the exact same text . . . it just seems a little odd.
Either devs are trolling us, or this is a bug. Both are highly probable, judging by current trend.
