Here’s this week’s thread for any Fallen London questions you don’t want to start a whole thread for!
Hello! I’m new and wondering: The travel button doesn’t show up for me, why is that?
That’s certainly odd, posting a screenshot might help. Do you mean it’s grayed out when you’re expecting to be able to travel, or the button’s actually not there? Off the top of my head, a few ideas.
- If you’re extremely new, your character may not have unlocked this functionality yet. I don’t know if this is even a thing! The early game has been revamped since I’ve played it.
- Button visibility and placement varies by screensize, so maybe it’s hiding. On my phone, it’s just a little map icon, no words.
- If you play on two different devices they can get de-sync’d. I’ve definitely ended up with my travel button grayed/glitched out because I start playing on one device, move locations on the other, and then resume playing on the first.
- You can’t move when you’re inside a storylet or card, you have to exit or advance the story.
- You’re in a different version of a familiar location that doesn’t actually permit movement.
Yeah, it takes a while to unlock it.
Hi, I’m looking at three-card Lodgings, but I’m not sure what to pick. I read in some old forum posts that you should only buy the Rooftop Shack and the Handsome Townhouse, and maybe the Gambling Den and Decommissioned Steamer. Is that still true?
It used to be that every lodgings you owned would permanently add a card to your deck - unideal if you’re trying to optimise it! Happily, that’s no longer the case - you can sublet your lodgings to disable their respective cards. So, get any you like the look of.
Good to know, thank you!
I seem to have accidentily bought two keys to the Rooftop Shack Is there any use to having multiple keys?
Afraid not. Take comfort in not being the only one! [Narrator: They have an entire Suite above a Bookshop]
I’m at stage 15 towards getting a tapestry moth in Burgundy. I can’t progress without gaining irrigo.
Is there any way of getting irrigo without going to the Cave of the Nadir? I can’t go there any more without losing some cp of my 235 base dangerous, which I could then never get back again.
Unfortunately, no. I have overcapped Dangerous as well, and while I already have my tapestry, I have resolved myself to the fact that I will eventually lose 1 level of it in order to regain irrigo to unlock future story content that may require it.
Remember that you can minimize stat loss by keeping irrigo at 5 or below when leaving the cave. That way, even though you’ll have to eat the one level of Dangerous loss, you will have plenty of CP left in case future visits become necessary.
.. according to the wiki technically you could wait for the Feast of the Rose, then FATE-reset your conversation with Millicent and chose an option that gives you one Irrigo .. but that seem to take quite a lot of dedication.
Holy moly, thanks for pointing this out! Now I’m definitely going to do this rather than mar my beautiful 279 dangerous any further.
I don’t suppose anyone has already done the maths on whether Law Hunting is a good source of both Storm Threnodies and Night Whispers?
Possibly. Current best grind for ST on wiki seems to be moon herding at about 3.6 epa? And night whisper right under it is probably around 4 epa in Khanate, I don’t know how to calculate it for parabolan warfare, jericho locks depends on how fast you grind UI and XI (I think) and then converts them at abysmal rate, tigers have been nerfed, and I think from experience that the university project isn’t very good either.
Even nerfed law hunting, from what little I remember about it, seems to be above any of that.
Well it was Aeolian Screams and not dorectly Storm threnodies but it looks like a guaranteed and inexpensive (as in no item consummed) way to get Night Whispers. And it complements the Worm to eventually upconvert to Threnodies too.
