Weekly Fallen London Questions, 08/06/2026

Here’s this week’s thread for any Fallen London questions you don’t want to start a whole thread for!

It seems Time the Healer stops messaging you once you haven’t logged in for a while:

Was this always the case or only since the recent TtH updates?

Fun fact: this account never lost its last point of Notability, even though it has had 0 Making Waves for weeks.
Scandal also hasn’t dropped further, still at 3.

Does this mean accounts are now “frozen” when a player doesn’t return after a specific amount of time? That’s kinda cool, actually!

I first heard of it a few months ago, but some players seem to think it’s been that way for a while. It makes sense, from a server load perspective. But that part about not losing the last point of Notability is new to me, congratulations you defeated Time the Healer!

I think retaining the last point of Notability has been around for a while. I took a lengthy leave of absence at one point and seem to remember it from then.

Actually, it probably depends on how much Notability you still had when you last played and whether you still had some left when the cut-off hit.

The one from the screenshot above is an exception, most of my accounts have lost all their Notability by now:

So, there’s definitely no rule that you always retain the last point of Notability. It seems to be - like all things with TtH - a timing issue.

I have a question I feel probably doesn’t need a whole thread.

Both the wiki and the ingame text say and imply respectively that the Gifted Student levels faster than the Profound, yet nothing I can find on the wiki explains why.

Rare success chance to level your student is 70% with the Profound, compared to 60% with the Gifted. It’s better than Meticulous’ 40% but nothing is showing me you can level the Gifted faster than the Profound. Their cards have the same frequency, they require 25 lab research and a 0,50 echo item to level manually, I mean everything is practically the same except the Gifted has a 10% smaller chance to level up and yet is claimed to level up faster!

Please help, I’m losing my mind. I haven’t even unlocked either yet, I’m still on Meticulous students and don’t really have to worry about this yet. Which could of course mean I’m missing something that you see once you unlock them.

I tend to work with a mix of gifted and visionary, with the occasional meticulous interlude. I may have used the profound student a couple of times, but have found them less appealing. (Rather childishly, I admit, that is in part due to the thumbnail. Colour me embarrassed.)

However, both gifted and visionary are able to just get on with things and graduate. Visionary is also useful in various ways, e.g. training other students. It seems ages since I deliberately sacrificed research progress for levelling up, so I don’t know whether that was changed at some point, or I’ve just been sloppy and neglectful. Or better at getting rare successes maybe?

Anyway, good luck!

If those percentages as listed on the wiki are accurate, that is fascinating and baffling. I always felt that that Profound Student did indeed have a lower chance of leveling up naturally, as the in-game text claims, but that could easily be cognitive bias from the expectation set up by the text.

Does anyone know the origin of the percentages listed on the wiki? Does the community have a large data-set backing up their findings? If the in-game text is indeed precisely backwards, that is definitely worth a feedback e-mail to FBG, but there is always the chance that it is the wiki percentages that are incorrect.

I looked at the history of the pages for various student interactions and the alternate success chances were all posted by the same user (that since seems to have deleted their profile) on the same day. I’m getting a 429 error when trying to see the version change but it was probably just adding the line “Alternate success chance is x”.

I’ve just asked on the Discord for the wiki so if they have any ideas it might get removed if incorrect or elaborated on if correct. If the percenteges are correct it’s probably something that’s worth a feedback email like you said, but if they’re incorrect it’s just one of those mistakes that slipped the cracks just to drive me insane for no reason.

The only way to derive those percentages is observation. I don’t recall any community effort to crowdsource the numbers being successful, so I think it was one player maintaining their own spreadsheet.

I’ve had a chat on the wiki Discord and yeah, it just seems like it was a mistake when writing the wiki. It’s been a wild goose chase for a bit of a silly conclusion but oh well, that’s what you get for min maxxing too close to the sun.

Did the zee map get a makeover? Things look more detailed. (It’s been appearing as a blur other than the names for me for week or two, until I realized some essential javascript thing was being blocked, and unblocking that revealed the map in this new? glory)
