Weekly Fallen London Questions, 08/06/2020

Here’s this week’s quack questions thread! Questions like &quotwhy was there a duck on my neighbour’s chimney this morning?&quot.

Or “and can the duck be disassembled for wings to be used on this skeleton, or what?”

Does anybody know how this new business of raising the Watchful cap interacts with someone who already has Watchful 215? Can we go higher than 215 now? Or say if I lose some Watchful to the Cave of the Nadir or something, can I get those points back in the old manner, or do I have to to ferret around in the lab first? I am not quite grasping it, but then again I’m not very bright.

The option to spend Notability to overcap your Watchful stat is now locked with “Impossible!” Other stats have not been locked yet. The new system of raising the cap is intended to be a full replacement for overcapping, and overcapping will cease to exist.

If your Watchful is already higher than 212, then it will remain so, subject to the usual degradation (like Nadir). My understanding is that the cap cap will eventually raise above 212 but that hasn’t been released yet.

Regardless of what your watchful cap is (200, 203, 206, or 212), if your watchful is below your current cap then you can raise it by playing Watchful challenges or any other regular way (e.g. spending Favors).

Much obliged, PSGarak. That seems reasonable, I think I like that better than the old way (providing it eventually goes up to 215 again).

Is there any way to access The Viric Jungle without the Phantasie from Feast of the Rose? I was unable to attend the feast this year due to a bereavement (sadly not RP) and don’t relish waiting till next year just to pick that up.

There was an update to the possessions screen, and now all my items only have the unequip option. The change button doesn’t show up and clicking the empty slot doesn’t do anything either. How do I search an item by name now?

Also how does London’s Nerves work now that Watchful 215 is unreachable?

We have indeed updated the Possessions tab this morning, and are currently chasing down some ensuing bugs. Bear with us!

All good! Saw some things got moved around so I wasn’t sure if I just missed it. The page looks a lot cleaner and I like everything being shown on one screen without swapping between two categories. Especially my companions take up a lot of space though so I always type in the name instead of finding the icon.

Is the cameo supposed to not be there?

You can upgrade your watchful limit in the lab, but they’re retiring a paramount presence in a week or so anyway.

You can upgrade the watchful cap to 212 but not 215 so that doesn’t really answer my question.

Anyway, am I going crazy or was the way to Flute Street at the Carnival? I definitely have the story unlocked and I even went there several times recently to get rubbery skulls, but now there’s no way to get back there. Is it supposed to be somewhere else or is this a bug?
Edit: Found it, it’s a travel location on the map now.

It appears so. The cameo only shows up now on the &quotMyself&quot page and the Profile page.

So, are there any new ways to gain Certifiable Scraps in the recent content (lab, paleonthology, etc.)? Or any announcement of one coming more or less soon? I’m currently stuck at a point in an Ambition, where I have to acquire a certain 3200 scraps item to continue (well, more like to finish it perfectly), so is there any point to waiting for more favourable conditions before trying to grind for remaining 1400?

It’s been my understanding that they’re just moving to a new way of getting to PP, not retiring it.

Specifically, it seems like they’re moving to new ways of overcapping stats, through upgrades to the cap rather than via notability grind. Looks like PP might still require getting all stats to 15 (one at a time) and switching specializations, but that’ll be doable without having to grind Notability to 15 to overcap, significantly changing the grind.

At least, that’s what it looks like to me so far.

That was my understanding as well, but we’re currently in an in-between phase where the notability method for overcapping has already been locked for watchful, while the new method hasn’t been fully implemented yet (only up to 212). So I was wondering if there were some other changes to London’s Nerves to account for this, or if that just means PP is unobtainable for now until the new method is fully functional.

in the PP thread below Aro Saren mentions that London s Nerves now only needs 212 and 12 notability. Cant confirm it myself though

Good day to everyone, delicious friends.
I have been in hibernation for some time now (that happens sometimes to us people who have died on the Surface once, you know). I return and see a delightful amount of new content, but some of it puzzles me.
In particular, is it better to build up your Attar or to spend it? I am pretty sure I have already lost some of it just by returning to London, it went from about 10 to 5, I think. But the woman at the door did hint at something that can happen only when you have a lot of Attar, and 5 doesn’t seem a lot at all. Can anyone explain to me how this works?

If you have five or more Attar, you’ll be taken to Far Arbor. If you have less than five, you’ll be taken to Near Arbor.
