Weekly Fallen London Questions, 05/10/2020

Here’s this week’s thread for quick Fallen London questions and, ideally, answers!

What cards give > 5 EPA? With the newest grinds in Helicon House, it seems that most of the cards I used to want to play now are less effective!

I’ve got the following list of things that are profitable. Getting docks favors via the regretful soldier and doing silken thread expeditions is still good, as is getting attar in far arbor. A Disgraceful Spectacle or A Bonfire of Decencies if you get lucky. Collecting and trading in Revolutionaries favors.

What else is out there that I’m missing?

is the Helicon House really THAT efficient in terms of echo grinding?
Sounds like I should really take a look in there, in order to grind my ubergoat in lightning speed. :D

Trading church favors for Strong-Backed Labour at the Bishop of Southwark’s statue at Jericho should be similarly profitable for expeditions as docks favors.

Just that I understand this right: investigating, etc required for helicon house needs to be (or is at least best) build up outside?

If you are a member of Clay Tailor’s and have the Widow on your railway board (and have Rumors of the Upper River to burn, so I don’t count the cost of those action-wise as I’ve hundreds), investigating infernal fashions is worth it. If you are into the skeleton thing, I think Bohemian favors for Ivory Humeri can be profitable (Statue of Poet Laureate in Ealing) if piggy-backing on other skeletal constructions. But otherwise…yeah, that’s mostly it AFAIK. There are a few 3-5 epa cards out there that I’ll occasionally play for old times sake if I’m hanging out in London for some reason, but not much beats Helicon at this point if grinding.

If you count rumor of upper river as 1 action (I don’t think bone market can give you more), then epa should be a little more than 3.
investigating infernal fashions needs 5 rumors that mean 5 actions with epa as low as 2.5, which decrease the allover epa.

About Money Cards, I’ll think the Bazaar Lodgings card is still worth playing. It still nets out at 3.96 EpA and the necessary persuative for 100% is doable.

If we’re counting fate-locked spouses, The Devout Intrigurer’s card is 5epa.

Yeah, definitely true, it isn’t a &quotgrindable&quot card, but if you move back and forth between railway stations with frequency (as I do) you accumulate rumors naturally. As such, this card is always worth playing (for me) since I get rumors faster than I draw the card. As far as I know it is the most profitable use of these rumors.

Is it better to use a Sparring Bout or an Eye Wide Open (+5 CP of Dangerous) to grind Dangerous?

Is it ever mentioned why moonlight has the properties it does?
