I’m pretty sure I used to be able to see how long ago I’d sent invitations. It was really nifty because I sent some Coffee invitations within the first couple of days of starting to play, and the "suggest a contact" button gave me a couple of completely inactive accounts, so I have these invitations from the very beginning sitting in my messages tab and I could use them to see exactly how long I’d played. (I remember checking back at one point and seeing over 400 days and being mindblown at it having been over a year already.) Did they remove that, or am I looking in the wrong place or something?
The Beta had that feature in the regular message tab, otherwise if you go to Edit Your Account and look at the Storynexus Inbox it has an… eccentric number of dated messages. It’s alternating between the last 46, 47, or 52 undeleted messages for me, so presumably if you’ve pruned your inbox to a lower number you’ll find everything there.
Hello there!
I am on my way to becoming a PoSI and I am the part where I finished the stroll around London (doing the action in each area that needs 100 on each stat). After this, seems like I have to complete certain conditions that appear on my Opportunity Card deck - I think I found 4 so far, one asking for a Townhouse, another asking for good clothes, other asking for different renown with different factions, and other asking for different lodgings available. From what I understood, I only need to complete one of them?
Also, I can complete right now the ones that look ‘cheaper’ (the townhouse or getting several different ‘cheap’ lodgings like the Rooftop). Thing is, I heard every lodgings card adds card to Opportunity deck, so if by doing this I end clogging it I don’t think it’s a good idea?
RP-wise, my character should absolutely go for having ‘Friends who can do the job’, but getting to 10 renown with Criminals, Revolutionaries and Great Game seems can take some time. But I am really in no rush to become a PoSI, right?
A Townhouse is good to have when you get to POSI - eventually you will be able to open a Salon or Orphanage and those are great Making Waves generators after you build them up.
But to be honest I wouldn’t rush to POSI as it is very expensive. So waiting for the RP option sounds good to me
I’d say once you have the stats, being POSI is better and more fun than not being POSI.
The best and easiest condition is the one you haven’t seen yet, having friends - not factions, but four specific pseudonymous people. Only one of them is kinda annoying, but she’s unavoidable. The other three are straight-up awesome (but take some effort to meet).
The townhouse is expensive and only useful much later, the non-Fate clothes are expensive and impractical (the $28.80 Persuasive suit/dress will do just fine until you save up $460), and unless you’re collecting scraps, only two of the cheap lodging cards are good (Rooftop Shack and Lair in the Marshes).
Question: who’s the Struggling Artist and why does everyone hate him? Supposedly he clutters decks almost as much as the Singer but I never see him don’t remember who he is (I may have met him at one point, but the bohemian aspects were never too interesting to me so I forgot a lot of what I did in Veilgarden and in the Palace).
You can flirt with the guy in Veilgarden at the very early stage of the game, not even realizing what you’re doing yet. And then he starts showing up at your door with his garbage, and there’s nothing short of a remote address to stop him.
The Singer at least is somewhat nice and gives you MW and items.
Is there any way of getting on a boat trip without going through that awful dying experience? Like getting sent to the Tomb Colonies immediately, without the A maelstrom of scandal! autofire. I still have iron knife tokens, and would like to hold on to them, but I’d also like to get the Constables 40 Renown boots…
The Mirrors at the Carnival can send you straight to the Boatman - but I don’t remember if that takes your tokens or not.

Oh, fascinating. I have zero memories of this, so I probably never played his storylet (I’m accross the Zee now so can’t check). Thanks for explaining what everyone’s talking about.
I’m shooting for Couriers Footprint. Right now my watchful with the best equipment I have gives me a +53 modifier. If my math is right I’ll need 300 Watchful. I have 2 cards to give me moods but that still leaves me short.
By my best estimates, spending notability to get 215 and using the mood still leaves me at 290. Does anyone have any tips for getting 300 Watchful?

The highest you can go with using fate is Watchful 317, which also includes the Notability boost. Though the items needed are not going to be easy to obtain.

My character can do 300 Watchful without a Mood but you may or may not be able to emulate that easily. I’ll tell you what my equipment for doing so is, though.
I have 215 Watchful also. My equipment (in the order in which they would appear in inventory) for Watchful bonuses is as follows (NOTE: I’m only going to list the bonuses to Watchful; some give modifiers to multiple stats):
Semiotic Monocle = +8 Watchful (available at the Bazaar)
Smock of 4,308 Pockets = +10 Watchful (available at the Bazaar)
Insatiable Glove = + 8 Watchful (available at the Bazaar)
Pot of Violant Ink = +12 Watchful (available only to those with Profession: Correspondent)
Language of Laces (boots) = +7 Watchful (available to those with Renown: Revolutionaries at 25)
Ubergoat = +30 Watchful (available by combining 2 Overgoats)
Newspaper = + 1 Watchful (available after completing the relevant POSI storylets)
Great Game = + 8 Watchful (available to those with Renown: Great Game at 40)
Cultured Attache (Note that there’s also a female version) = + 1 Watchful (Requires FATE and completing storylets at the Foreign Office in Wilmot’s End)
Total Bonuses from Equipment = +85
The Monocle and the Smock, you’ll note, are not cheap, nor is /are an Overgoat/s.
Good luck with your Correspondence quest.

Right now I have the following:
Semiotic Monocle = +8 Watchful
Smock of 4,308 Pockets = +10 Watchful
Insatiable Glove = + 8 Watchful
Ratwork Watch = + 8 Watchful
Meticulously Altered Stockings = + 3 Watchful
Midnight Matriarch of the Menagerie of Roses = + 12 Watchful
An Orphanage = + 1 Watchful
You’re Not Quite Sure What = + 3 Watchful
It seems I may have no choice but to give up my work as a Glassman for the time being. Looked through the list of watchful items and unless I want to get 25 and 40 renown, or 25 renown a new destiny there is no way. I’ll be blunt, that b___y sucks.
Actually did the math again, I’d still be short unless I get a renown award. ugh. Even buying an overgoat wouldn’t be enough, I’d be 2 short then. Again, ugh.
"Cheapest" is a watchful destiny(fate), the 25 renown with Revolutionaries, and becoming a correspondent. Unless of course Failbetter released a watchful transport…?

Bear in mind that you still have Mood cards and can use those in addition to your other stuff. The Mood replaces you Monocle and gives you an extra +22 for the duration of the Mood (about an hour).
For the future: you may want to look into getting the Wax-Hardened Boots at the next election. They are +5 Watchful, a +2 improvement on your Stockings.
I did not have the Great Game item nor the Language of Laces when I achieved Courier’s Footprint though I don’t recall exactly what my equipment was; I’m pretty sure I did it with Moods.

Yes I have factored that in. With my current stats factoring in the mood and adding the 15 I will get for notability I would be at 290. Replace my boots with the revolutionary ones and I am 294 then replace my Destiny with a Watchful one and I am 299(then marry for 1 watchful) or replace my watch with the ink and it is 298 which leaves either 40 renown rewards, or the Overgoat. I’ve wracked my brain and those are the "cheapest" options.
Get the Language of Laces (Revolutionary 25 boots), the 15 Watchful from Notability, then become a Midnighter. Shrine to Joshua is now +9 Watchful ever since the Reworks, and that plus a Mood should get you precisely 300, no Fate to change Destiny needed.
Actually, if you decide to switch to a Watchful destiny in addition to the others, you only need to become an Agent. Memento of a Struggle is a +9 Watchful weapon.

I did it without overcapping or letting go of my Author profession.
My list was this:
Semiotic Monocle = +8 Watchful (Bazaar)- Replaced with a Mood at +30
Smock of 4,308 Pockets = +10 Watchful (Bazaar)
Insatiable Glove = + 8 Watchful (available at the Bazaar)
Infernal Vinification Apparatus = +10 Watchful (Renown Hell: 40)
Language of Laces (boots) = +7 Watchful (Renown: Revolutionaries 25)
Ubergoat = +30 Watchful
Newspaper = + 1 Watchful
Great Game = + 8 Watchful (Renown: Great Game at 40)
Destiny: Revelation = +5 Watchful
So there was no need to change profession, but there was a lot of Renown grinding plus the goat - which is very useful in expeditions anyway.
