Weekly Fallen London Questions, 01/06/2026

Here’s this week’s thread for any Fallen London questions you don’t want to start a whole thread for!

Does anybody else have two delivery options für The Duchess?
Did I miss a change? Did I edge case? I can’t remember doing anything out of the ordinary. Isn’t the storylet to pick up the delivery invisible until one delivers the return gift?

We don’t have any official confirmation from FBG yet, but from several reports on Discord it seems that the Delivery activity has been changed recently: Hagyotoponyms and Queen Mates have been removed from the list of possible starting gifts; the fact that you can still deliver them is probably a bug.

Night Whispers and Searing Enigmas have been added as possible gifts instead, presumably because they are more accessible to mid-game players.

Apparently you can now also spend an action to request a different delivery.

What exactly do those opposing faction standoff cards do? Just make it hard for you to rack up favours? There are a couple that offer compromise challenges, but I hate the Acacia and the Butterfly one and all it does is take up a slot until I spend the favours on what I was originally going to do anyway.

They used to be thought quite desirable, especially when people had maxed out their renown with the parties involved. But that was before the profitable options along the railway came about.

I remember reading once that the goal was to encourage spending favours instead of hoarding them.

Going by that concept, then, it looks like they’re valuable surprises that loose a bit of that value if you hold on to as many as you can. Clogging your deck and your hand with conflict cards is one of the ways that hoarding favours reduces their worth.

Oh, that makes sense. Yeah, I’m more interested in cashing in at Jericho than what’s offered in the conflict cards.

I ran into that exact situation earlier today and commented on the wiki’s guide about it. It first happened with a Searing Enigma with a Queen Mate being the other turn in option.

What I find weird about adding Night-Whispers is that its part of the reward you get at the end for making a delivery for the Queen. Same with the Searing Enigma being part of the reward from the Duchess.

This sounds like a regift situation.
