Here’s this week’s thread for quick Fallen London questions and answers!
Is it unreasonable to wish FBG would change the Legendary Charisma requirement to include the Nadir upgraded versions of the two garments you can currently complete it with?
Hi, I think I’ve had a bug with the number of Board Meetings. Last week I had used the two meetings but, when time the Healer arrived, I was still inside one meeting and, when I came out of it, I only had the possibility to do one and not 2. I don’t know if this is a bug or if it’s something that was programmed but it’s unnerving because I have just finished laying tracks for the next station and I don’t want to wait until next time the Healer.
I would have to check the wiki for the details, but I would strongly assume that you TtH resets the quality you get after finishing(!) the meeting.
So it sounds, at least for me, more like a bad timing than a bug.
Yep, that’s how it works.
There are two qualities that track your meetings. One is “Delay until the next board meeting.” This gets set when you COMPLETE a meeting, prevents you from starting a meeting, and gets reset by Time the Healer once a week.
There’s Bureaucratic Advantage, which gives you a second meeting per week until you reach Moulin. That quality starts at 1, and you use it up to clear Delay until the Next Board Meeting. It resets to 1 every week with Time the Healer.
So mechanically, what the happened is that:
- Current week, you do one meeting, end it by gaining Delay until the next board meeting.
- You use up Bureaucratic advantage to clear the Delay, start another meeting.
- Time the healer comes around, resets your bureaucratic advantage to 1 and your Delay until the next Board Meeting to 0 (unchanged).
- You complete your meeting, setting Delay until the Next Board Meeting to 1.
- You get to do one more meeting using Bureaucratic Advantage, which you got from Time the Healer.
You’ll have to wait until next week to do 2 more meetings.
Tl;dr it counts the end of the meeting and not the beginning.
They’re all fighting all the pub now. It’s a right brawl, you shouldn’t miss out!
(Specifically the Blind Helmsman, since there are at least three drinking establishments with their own map location.)
Oh that’s nice. Long time since I was in a pub brawl. I wonder if the Dedicated Brawler quality might in future have something to with pushing Dangeros Gains a bit higher? I hope so. Doesn’t seem to do anything right now.
They’re all fighting all the pub now. It’s a right brawl, you shouldn’t miss out!
I only knew about this because I noticed the flurry of wiki activity; was someone tipped off or was someone just prowling around London’s forgotten dives? It’s a healthy chunk of fun, light content and a source for a few otherwise troublesome items, and it seems bizarre for it to just… show up.
Hi… I’m a long-time player who’s been away for a long time - had basically maxed out content, was a POSI and 200s across the board, etc., a goat, etc. I think it’s time to jump back in and have to admit to being a bit overwhelmed by all the new content (not to mention years’ worth of Exceptional Stories that await!). Two real quick questions: (1) how do I get to the Cave of the Nadir on the new map? I have the route, but literally can’t see where to click and don’t see it in the Forgotten Quarter options when I’m there and (2) can someone point me to a decent guide for the railroad and how to get steel? Is it just a huge grind in the lab, or is there something more to it, in order to get started? I keep getting that opportunity card but can’t do anything with it. Thank you!
On the forgotten quater there is an option to open your basecamp. afterwards you can navigate directly there and also access the cave that way.
for all the railway stuff etc, you first of all need to draw a card. then there is alot of suff to do in the unversity (opening your own lab etc). Unless you want to explore the new content really fast, I would reccomend starting with the lab stuff and then wait until you get introduced to the other new mechanics.
(1) It’s in the Base Camp sub-area next to the Forgotten Quarter if I recall correctly.
(2) There should be a Railway Beginnings (that should be its actual name, so search for that) guide on the fallenlondon.fandom.com wiki. I’d hunt down and paste a link, but I’m tired and not willing to wrestle with this finnicky tablet right now.
Thank you both. Apparently the new “Set up a camp” option was what it took… never even thought to look since I look ago got past expeditions. I set up my camp and, voila!
On to forget what I’m doing, then learn what I’m doing with the lab - thus far, just been painstakingly grinding out some guns.

Did FBG just change how weekly Making Waves loss goes? After publishing a paper today I noticed that my MW was at 10 going on 11. I’m pretty sure my MW was 11 last night, and I’m 99.99% certain it wasn’t 20. Anyone else noticing less MW loss this week than expected?

Check your messages tab or email for what Time the Healer had to say?
Maybe someone sent you a social action that raised your MW or something.

I went to another player’s orphanage about 12 hours before TtH hit, but that wouldn’t have taken me up to 20mw.
It will say “Notability has not changed from X because it’s lower than Y”
Y is one more than your Making Waves was when TtH hit.

Notability isn’t at issue here. It was lower than my MW. What I’m talking about is that my MW doesn’t seem to have been halved as usually happens after TtH.
What was it before and what was it after? Both of those pieces of information are in the message.
You must be getting a different message. Mine has always only told me what the new MW value is.
