Wanting to be Correspondent? - Need help with SotC

Hello!

The thing is I really want my character to be a Correspondent as profession. For what I’ve seen, I need to do: Journalist -> Author -> Correspondent.

My problem arises on that I do not have SotC at level 10. I’m already a PoSI, which means I already finished the University story (I’m not thrown away, still accepted) but I’m not welcomed at the Empress Court. How can I level SotC from 7 to 10, to be able to become a Correspondent? Everything I find suggest some cards that were available on the University, before finishing the story D:

I’m currently grinding to get a Zubmarine, and Bazaar Premises.

Thanks!

At the University, you’ll find Shadowy Dealings at the University as a storylet. Select that, and you’ll have the option to use Correspondence Plaques (and a few other items) to expand your knowledge of the Correspondence.

In the Forgotten Quarter there is the storylet: Seeking Curios and Secrets in the Forgotten Quarter

There is an airs-dependent option that increases SOTC. Also, if you take the fate-locked option in the Labyrinth of Tigers you can breed an Ocelot pet that has a card which raises your SOTC.

Those two methods are how I got SOTC to 10. Took a while, mind. I might have used some of the options at Christmas, too. Yeah, think I did, but I forgot what they are. Something to do with pails of something that isn’t snow.

I also actually quit being a Correspondent this week. Author seemed nice and Bohemian to me, but being a Correspondent was too stuffy and academic for me. She fell in with a bad lot and does, er, something else now.

The Forgotten Quarter will only bring Scholar of the Correspondence to 7, which our delicious friend has already reached.

Ah, okay. Sorry about that. Can’t have been paying attention while I was doing it. The other things I mentioned must have been what got me over the hump then. I never used the University option because my Watchful was never high enough (and it still isn’t).

That is great info, thank you everyone! :D

The Labyrinth of Tigers has a breeding program that, with 20 fate and no small amount of effort, will create a opportunity card to increase SoTC dramatically… but only up to 10.

It is an owl-shaped… thing.

The Corresponding Ocelot is a far better source, and far easier to obtain, than the Bifurcated Owl. The Ocelot’s card gives a guaranteed point of SotC while the Owl only has a 50% chance.

I gotta get an iron chin guard installed after that uppercut, friend.

On a related and spontaneous note (read: confession) , your avatar is as recognizable as mine!

My eyes light up when… er…

Your avatar ignites a- no.

You- the- the thingy- the-

For lack of a better metaphor, I enjoy reading your posts.

I enjoy writing them, so I’m glad they satisfy on both ends :P

Waitaminute… why would one want to become a Corrospondent?

Me, I think meta-wise for practically everything. The weekly rewards aren’t used often (or at all for me) and the corrosponding (he he pun) item for Cor- that profession can easily be substituted with something else.

EDIT: Non-meta-wise, yea I agree it is an awesome profession to have.
