What are your commodities for this route? I couldn’t find anything good in Fallen London for the Fallen London -> Venderbight leg except Tomb Colonists. Have I missed a trick?

I believe Prisoner’s Honey can be bought in Fallen London and sold at Venderbight for a small profit.
Hmm, somehow I pressed cancel instead of post…brilliant. Take two! [li]
I’ve run into a bug regarding terror and I do have some questions related to this thread, but first let me explain the bug. After the new patch anytime you get between 50-60 a event about a crew member killing themselves by strapping themselves with cookware and jumping in the sea, keeps popping up over and over and over in a very short period of time. The only way to stop this from wiping out your entire crew is to spend provision as a result of this event and that lower the terror by 5, which helps a little, but hurts if you are low on provisions. I’ve lost about 10 crew, 6 originally and then 5 more after restocking, to this bug/event and I wondered if anyone knew of any good ways to get rid of terror?
I know you can spend 20 echoes to sleep off a tiny bit in Fallen London, but that seems very expensive and hardly useful. I’ve seen very few events that offer the chance to lower terror while 95% of them seem to raise terror up. I thought I could buy some wine and give it to my crew, but that didn’t work and I’m hoping some of you people have had better luck trying to lower it.[/li][li]

Cheats!
I’m not sure I am allowed to post cheats, even though I found one that comes in very handy for test purposes, especially when otherwise hindered by a crew nibbling away on supplies like a horde of hobbits?
Well, I found a way to increase Echoes and thus was able to purchase lots of nice stuff and explore the Underzea a little more undisturbed …
Before posting my little tipp I’d love to have a green GO! ;)
Cheats are bugs. Do please mail us so we can fix them. Please don’t post them here, because if people use an exploit it’s going to make diagnosing issues that much harder. :)[li]
Ah, I thought so. I’ll send you a mail. ;)
The most efficient way I’ve found of reducing terror is to go carousing at wolfstack docks.
Cost 30 gold
I seem to recall someone mentioning Mutton Island as a good place for reducing Terror but I wouldn’t really know about that.
Also, keep an eye out for restless night evets while you’re sailing. I find they come up fairly frequently between 30-50 Terror and ignoring your crew is a great way to make them less fearful. Apparently.
An undocumented feature made it out of early builds into the game, by mistake: if you lose crew in battle, a certain number will be healed afterwards. The higher your Hearts, the more the healees. It won’t tell you why, so folk are, understandably, reporting it as a bug.[li]

Enjoy it while it lasts!
I thought “undocumented feature” and “bug” were synonymous. ;)

[/li][li]The path seems to be news, honey, and colonists to Venderbright; silk from Venderbright to Palmerston, picking up scintillack en route; not sure what to take from palmerston to Venderbright (honey again?). [/li][li]

I actually hadn’t taken anything from Venderbight to Palmerston myself so I’ll be sure to include Silk myself the next time. I simply including Palmerston (and later on Gaider’s Mound?) because the port reports from there are worth about 50 Echos to the Admiralty. So from Palmerston I came back via Cecil (for more Scintillack) and Gaider’s (for another port report) and then headed right back to London.

Fallen London
Pick up Tomb-Colonists (2 to 4, no expense all profit)
Pick up Recent Gossip at your home (no expense)
Be sure to load sufficient Supplies and Fuel. (Enough for the round trip is best)
Load up on Prisioner’s Honey until you can afford no more or your ship is full.
Sail North to Vanderbight
Unload the Colonists for 15e each
Sell your Recent Gossip for 10ge
Sell your Prisioner’s Honey (profit 3e each)
Get a Port Report.
Explore the town and hope for an artifact.
Make sure you have enough supplies and fuel for the return trip.
Load up on Spider’s Silk.
Sail back to London.
Sell Spider Silk (2e each)
hand in the Port Report; Vanderbight (10e)
Sell the artifact (if you have the scholar unlocked) for 100e, if you got one.
Repeat.
This is my normal trade route, made enough to vastly upgrade my engines and weapon and hire the specialist crews.
You will need to head to Mutton Island periodically if your Terror gets too high.

If you include branching out east to Port Cecil, you can add between 100e and 300e to that run (minus the extra cost of supplies / fuel) if you gather Scintillack and sell if at London.
A trip North from Port Cecil to Palmerston gets you another 50e for the Palmerston port report - or you can just keep some of these since you need a few of the for the Zong of the Zee.
Agree. I have all crew slots bar Cook now filled - in fact everything except first officer has backups. Are there no Cooks yet in the game? :)

This is what I’ve been doing. I was almost rich enough for the mansion before the patch! (I will do it. Eventually.) For free terror reduction AND a free crate of supplies, stop by the Misery and Company waystation. Don’t bother searching the Island, just get some tea and you lose -5 terror, and pick up some supplies. Definitely makes the trip less harrowing (although I died twice anyway because the Neath is cruel and holy crap did the fuel bug screw me prepatch)
Re: Terror and Mutton Island
There’s a gambling option there which requires 50 Echoes and has (I think) 2 outcomes:
I just went down from 50 or so terror to 0 and never got the second option (which was annoying, because I couldn’t remember what attributes were raised so I wanted to get it at least once) so your odds are pretty good, which I think makes it the best option for getting rid of terror.
Does upgrading your engines increase your speed, or just your veils? I just grabbed the Illyrian, and it seems like I’m going a little faster, but that might just be wishful thinking. If this is not the case, is there any rhyme or reason to the cost to veils ratio?
I’m still getting Fallen London stores in Palmerston, even after the patch – which makes taking silk a bad idea. Are you seeing different shops?
[li]
Upgrading engine seems to reduce fuel consumption. I upgraded to the second engine and now I barely use one fuel on the London -> Venderbight loop.
Now, if there was only something to reduce food consumption…
My current route has turned into London -> Gaider’s Mourn -> Port Cecil -> Mount Palmerston -> Port Cecil -> Whither -> Venderbight -> London.[li]
Though, once I start on multiple cycles, Mutton Island slips in between London and Gaider’s Mourn for dealing with Terror. The reason I add Gaider’s Mourn specifically, you get 50 Echoes off the port report, which, while nothing special, has the chance to give you Strategic Information instead, which goes for a much more delightful 250 Echoes. And I make sure to hit Port Cecil twice for that extra dose of marvelous Scintillack.
Totaling up how much, I usually end up with right around 600 Echoes, and that’s if I don’t do so well on Scintillack numbers. One route, where I managed to get a Strategic Information, netted me almost 1100 Echoes!
