A steam-powered, ironclad dreadnought of an argument, bound up in a bow reading "Ultima Ratio Regum". As cunning as a weasel recently promoted to lead Benthic’s Department of Exceptionally Cunning Studies, its manifold intermeshed moving parts give the listener an irrational urge to keep their fingers well clear until it stops. The recipient is left with the distinct impression of facing down a Maxim gun. Those not convinced by its logic are baffled by its complexity.

Well, of course, items that allow you to romance various characters immediately spring to mind (not that I think of women as objects), but I’'l do one for each account:
Mutable Key (Weapon) Shadowy +3 Bizarre +1
This key opens, like most others, only one door, of course. It just seems to be rather confused about which one sometimes…
Truculent Trench-Coat (Clothing) Dangerous +4 Dreaded +1
A rather battered coat always looking for a fight. Made out of hardy "leather". What? What are you looking at? Surface cows are in short supply down here! Come over here and say that to its, er, "face"!
Artistically Inclined Beret (Hat) Persuasive +4 Respectable +1
No matter how hard you try, you just can’t get it to sit straight on your head; it remains at a perpetual rakish tilt. And when wearing it, you tend to have trouble speaking with anything less than the most æsthetic of demeanors… B—er it! There it goes again!
Cannibal’s Table
Home Comfort
No matter what you were planning to serve, everything placed on this table tastes almost like pork.
+3 Dreaded, +1 Bizarre, +3 Suspicion, +1 Unaccountably Peckish
Adder Stone
Hat
A river rock with a hole through it. It was once believed that you could see through Faerie glamours using this.
+9 Watchful
Famine
Destiny
They are neither man nor woman, they are neither beast nor human; they are ghouls.
+5 Dreaded, +1 Unaccountably Peckish
Kelpie
Companion
Half horse, half shark. Only a fool would try to ride.

Decidedly Unsportsmanlike Rapier
Weapon
Specifically designed to violate a record third of the rules in the Gentleman’s Honorable Dueling Code, this rapier is poisoned, weighted, hollow, automated, and a couple more things you won’t find out until you’re already dueling.
Dangerous +7, Shadowy +6, Dreaded +1, Respectable -1
Uncomfortably Specific Bodice-Ripper
Weapon
Of course it isn’t about you! I mean, who would go to the trouble of writing a whole salacious saga about a protagonist who shares your hair color, eye color, and fatal flaw just to expose your affairs and assignations? That’s ridiculous! I probably wouldn’t!
Persuasive +8, Watchful +3, Scandal +1, Respectable +1
Reckless Map
Companion
Marked with an emphasis on "Here Be Monsters", with an implication of "Come And Get 'Em". For the London thrill-seeker who’s done it all, to make zailing more exciting.
Dangerous +6, Watchful +4, Bizarre +1, +1 Approaching Journey’s End.
Perhaps locked with An Experienced Zailor 7?
One for each alt except one, as per the usual.
Lyme

“He has certainly learned much from you.”

Stars alone know how you’ve managed to restrain the mangy beast, never mind acquire enough material for a coat. It amuses itself with little vengeful pecadilloes like moaning during the quiet parts of the Mass, when you’re slipping past a constable, silently staking out suspects, or trying to listen for a coming enemy. Seems to move around your house while you’re not looking. Then your food starts to go missing. Is it looking even fuller and more luxurious than it was yesterday? Perhaps one day it’ll wake and simply wander off again in search of foolish souls.
“The starveling coat! The starveling coat! Black as nights and souls and oaths!”
“The starveling coat! The starveling coat! It’ll starve you even as you bloat!”

That’s awesome. We need more marsh lore. Swamp thing. The Green. All that nonsense
A wonderful idea! For Mel I would want one of her personal story items:
A Vial of Soulstuff

Watchful +3, Shadowy +2, Nightmares +1

Fallen Puppeteer, as someone whose plays and screenplays are often meta, "Something Unreasonably Meta" is my absolute favorite thing among a lot of very good items on this list. Well played.

Wow. I really wish I had found this before. It looks REALLY cool.
Alright. One for each of my characters.
A Mirror Of Questionable Relfectiveness
A prototype from your anarchist friends. It absorbs the light from all but a select few angles. Perfect for peaking around a corner while the constables are rushing in. It’s rather fragile though, and it’s hardly polite to lend a ‘trick mirror’. Not to mention that they couldn’t get rid of the viric tint. What ever did happen to the testers.
Shadowy +5, Watchful +5, Persuasive -3, Dangerous -3, Bizarre +1, Nightmares +1
What I wish the "Drownie Song of the Deep" was. Nightmares and all. I’ve been using both the song and the everlasting candle since I’ve acquired them. Both having been replaced only briefly by the memento of struggle.
A Name Written Somewhere Else
It doesn’t matter where you write it. On a book, in a study, on a sheet of lead, as an initial, as a signature, or on a headstone. And half of them from before you came to the neath. Maybe it’s why you seek, maybe it’s why you don’t care. You will go NORTH. You will find more than just His name.
Watchful +10, Obscurity +3.
[start the game with this]
A meta joke. I’ve never bothered to put my seeking alt in my signature after I created it. I eventually realized that was probably for the best.
Edit: Reworded the mirror a bit. Tried to make it a bit more consistent with the persuasive drop.

Thanks! I have a bit of a thing for meta-narratives as well, so of course I had to include something of the sort.
