This year we have excised the quirk reductions! You can now fish to your heart’s content without fear of having quirks reduced upon successes.

There won’t be any new story content this year, as we are flat-out on a lot of major content reworking, and some exciting new content for a favourite island in Sunless Sea - more news of that soon. There is a little new art, which I think you’ll enjoy.

Oooooh! I hope you are talking about Hunter’s Keep, and not one of these expedition islands.

Fantastic news - thanks Hannah.

The expedition islands don’t show up in Sunless, so its either Hunter’s Keep or Mutton Island. Or I guess Polythreme. Or who knows maybe a full blown other island from Sunless, that would be awesome.

Pigmote island hopefully. I want faction relations to Guinea pigs and rats.

Favourite island? The one with the guinea pigs, surely!

Looking forward to the Zee Festival! It was a lot of fun last year, and it’s awesome that I don’t have to worry about my quirks this time around.

If not quirks, what should I be stockpiling? I want to experience everything in one go!

How long does the event usually last?

From what I remember, nautical stuff (zee stories, maps, etc) was good. Not sure how long it lasted.

Last year’s festival lasted for two weeks. Partial Maps and Zee-Ztories were useful, though the game does provide a way to earn those during the festival so you shouldn’t need to go back to London to restock in the middle of things.

I second the Pillars! (I’m - scared of Wisdom. Maybe that ocular toad will finally come in handy?)[li]

Though I don’t have a ship as of yet so while I hope for some things for us landlubbers or a ship to ferry us across to that island.

There was indeed a ferry to bring newer players to Mutton Island. I think there was also an option to pay some urchins to bring you to Wolfstack Docks if you didn’t yet have that location unlocked.

Ah ok.

Oooh, how very exciting! I’m rather new to Fallen London so this will be my first festival event, I’m eager to see what fun new avenues there are to explore.

Hrrrm… I just caught the tail end of the last one and was unsure what to really do with it. Does anyone have any tips?

This was a year ago, but this is what I recall (may be completely wrong in places):

The festival is broken into two parts: fishing, and cashing in your catch.

Fishing is fairly simple - you have a set number of turn out fishing (ten?), and during that time you can either answer a quirk challenge, or else (not always an option) turn in navigational items for progress, with more expensive items offering greater progress.

Once your time is up, you offer your catch to the inhabitants. Apart from the well, which should be left well enough alone from what I recall, there’s two people who offer navigational fungibles and menace reduction (one does wounds, another does nightmares), and someone who lets you into the cove.

Your catch is likely to be in the range of 1-12 (1-5 if you just do quirk challenges).

The material rewards from the menace reducers is random, not effected by the size of your catch. The menace reduction did vary by catch size.

In the cove, you can cash in your catch for various rewards of varying usefulness, if your catch is EXACTLY the right value - if you want a prize that goes for catch size 2, and your catch is size 5, you’re out of luck. Top prize was a nice friendly hamster weapon. No loot is top of class, but some of it is very nice mid-tier stuff and unqiue.

The problem with cashing in is that your catch is reduced by a random amount four(?) times between fishing and reaching the cove. The reduction is something like 0-2, or 0-3 each time, I think, so what you have in the boat need not reflect what you can get in the cove, or from the menace reducers.

First tip: Be patient. Treat this like fidgetting writer. Don’t count your catch until it’s done, and be used to your 10 point catch dropping to 7, and so missing the prize you want at the final hurdle.

Best technique - go out, fish with just quirks, cash in your catch with the menace reducers for navigational stuff. Go back out, fish with the navigational stuff. If you have a good catch, try to cash it in, otherwise throw it back and see if the second fishing expedition goes better.

That’s all I can remember, and a lot of it is probably wrong in many ways.

When will the festivities start? This will be the first event I can join in, so I’m excited to see what it has to offer.

All we know is ‘sometime this week’.

NUNCIO!?
