Anyone else curious is there is a specific use for this?
Er, what?

It’s the tiny boat you get issued if you run out of fuel near London and can’t afford the towing fee. It’s also available for purchase, in case you want to roleplay a suburban holidaymaker taking a pleasure-cruise out to Rowena’s Rocks and back! It doesn’t seem to be fully implemented yet, though - last time I checked, it doesn’t have its own graphic, and just uses that of whatever ship you were using before you switched to it. Still, it’s a cool idea!
Ooh, I see. This… is very confusing terminology. I wonder if it is an in-joke – you know, full Steam launch coming up.
I was actually wondering if it might be possible to use the Steam Launch to have minimal crew/officers to go try the “Eat your Crew” option at Kingeater’s Castle.
With only five units of cargo space in your hold, I don’t know how you’d be able to make it all the way over there. And I doubt it affects your officer roster.
edit: the steam-launch, that is; eating your crew might certainly have an effect. Also, doesn’t that require 150 Iron or something? With the -20 penalty to Iron, it seems even less likely.

Hm, yeah, hadn’t thought about the fuel cost or the iron penalty there. Really typed that post before thinking it through. Heh.
waits for NiteBrite to somehow do the thing
If the map was just right and you had enough money you could buy up a ton of secrets at Irem to get your iron up and just possibly go 4 fuel/1 supplies between ports to get there. You’d have to have a really good map though.
Iron’s currently capped, though, isn’t it? 110 or something? Folks were discussing it the last time Kingeater was brought up, dunno if that’s changed.
[spoiler] Some actions aren’t capped, like the ones for giving the fathomking things, or shooting mt nomad. it’s possible to get +25 from the father quest, which with the weapons and crew adds up to 150 or over. But then you go a bit mad from their sticking in your teeth.
Also, is the drownie storylet there pinned to having one crew left, or is it linked to going mad?
