Hi there,
I have seen various threads that speak to this, so I know this isn’t a new issue. But I have to reiterate as it just happened to me.
As a person in the midst of the final two stages of becoming a Paramount Presence, it’s really frustrating when you do an action and immediately realize that your hard-earned 215 stat has dropped to 214 by a CP or two.
This is really deflating. It takes a lot of time, energy, and resources to cap each stat at 215, and one small blind sight like this can negate the whole thing. This wouldn’t be an issue if all of these actions are clearly flagged in bold text like some I’ve seen. But all of them aren’t. This also wouldn’t be an issue if we were able to accrue a stat to the POSI max of 215 through standard actions. But we can’t.
Now I have to spend a lot of time and resources to grind my Notability back to 15 just to negate one or two lousy CPs. I know that once I’m a PP there is an option to spend 15 Notability to reset all stats at 215, but again, a lot of additional time, energy, and resources.
I don’t know if any of this will be addressed by the redesign either imminently or longer-term, but I feel like it’s important to carry this constructive criticism forward.

FYI, you don’ need to get it back to 215 if you’ve gotten the quality for it. What I’ve been doing is getting a stat to 215, immediately grabbing the “London’s ____” quality, and then letting it drop over time. Eventually when I’ve got all four then I’ll be able to do just a single run to 15 notability to get them all to 215. I figure that’s easier than trying to safeguard stats for a really long time.
Yeah, my plan is to get stat to 215 only once I can get the corresponding London’s _____ quality. Hence why I am not boosting Watchful until I get 16 more Chess victories and some 20 Boatman levels.
Yeah, there’s a fundamental problem with the game here where we’re encouraged to watch the wiki like hawks else risk permanent (or at least very bothersome to fix) damage. It’s worse with quirks.
Thanks for the replies.
Yes, I know that once you have London’s quality for any given stat, you’re good. But the path to achieve 15 notability to cap each stat, then to move to the next one, is a grind. I understand that FB knows about this and can only get to so much at a time. And, they’ve expressed a programming limitation in regards to this. So hopefully the redesign framework will allow more flexibility here long term.
Just needed to vent.

I do agree that it’s nonsensical to be able to cap and then to have to grind back up. I feel like if you overcap, it should get increased in a more permanent way, so if it goes down, you can get it back up. That’d make the Nadir a lot more appealing for endgame players.
Agreed! I’m in about the same situation as Jason - I have two of four and am working my way up to the last two. I made the mistake of overcapping my first one before I had the other requirements finished, and was petrified of an accidental click (A dream about a cramped space, for example). Definitely waiting until I’m totally set on the last two.
I didn’t realize once it was done you could top up all of them in one go, so that’s nice at least. Still probably won’t ever visit the Nadir again…
It used to be that you couldn’t, since Paramount Presence was only implemented a year or two ago. My current stance is I’ll grind the Notability for each individually and still use the Nadir (because the profit is something I very much need) and recap once I get Paramount, then stop using the Nadir
I like the idea of increasing the stat cap rather than just increasing your skill level too. It makes more sense mechanically, and I think it fits thematically as well.
It would inspire many more people to do the grind. It is what kept me from doing it for months, and when I eventually capitulated it did not feel as much fun as other grinds because of the stat cap remaining the same.
I’m currently pursuing the first of the Paramount qualities. The prospect of ‘getting there’ but then seeing my hard-won overcap eroded by irrigo (and maybe menaces) will make me quite sad indeed, given how irksome N15 can be to achieve… multiple times.
I haven’t made much use of the Nadir though - having read through this thread, I’m thinking maybe I should a little more.

It’s pretty incredible. You can grab a bunch of T6 items, Dramatic Tension, Extraordinary Implications, and one or two other useful things.
I go every week and try to get out before I hit 6. Not always successful. End of Battles, I’m looking at you!

End of Battles, I’m looking at you![/quote]Same for me, but I try to get out before 10, because I play enough during the week to easily replenish a drop of 45 CP in all four main stats, and it’s nice to actually be able to take advantage of actions that increase stats. 100 or 105 CP from Irrigo 10 or 11 is also doable, and has the ‘benefit’ of getting me the full 50 CP from 5 second chances in case I get that lucky with the 1-50 roll for those actions.
Ι stay as long as I ca: echoes, favors, dramatic tension, enigmas… but most of all the atmosphere.
Agree with the above. I forget what action gave me -1 CP persuasive that I did not expect to, but dropping from 215 to 214 is frustrating.
