Is it a requirement to have a four-card lodging to chuck down the well? With the new POSI requirements removing the lodgings requirement, I’m seriously questioning whether it’ll be worth it to buy anything fancy or not.
According to the wiki upload- yes. it must be bazaar premises, it sounds like:

Hello.
I’ve been Seeking the Name for quite some time already. My progress was relatively slow, but steady. I enjoyed it. However, it all came to a halt once I got to St Destin’s candle. I have no Fate items, so my BDR wasn’t all that great and the grind for Notablity lasted for a couple of weeks (even though I’ve been using every option that I could). Still, I finally got all twelve levels the quest required. However, I wasn’t aware that I would need "A visit from Slowcake’s Amanuensis" card, so I never bothered to hold onto it. Well, I was wrong, and now I am in a position that I don’t like at all. It seems that I have to wait for days (possibly weeks or even months) for this card to appear in order to progress. My only alternative is to get 48 levels of MW in 7 days (this is the best BDR that I can get), which is a huge problem for me. I guess, If I manage to get 20 levels of "Engaged in a Scheme: a Salon" then I will be able to force Amanuensis to appear, but it also can lead to weeks upon weeks of waiting.
It is very frustrating, because I don’t have any sense of progress, doing nothing but waiting endlessly and flipping cards. I can’t even buy Fate (due to my country of residence) to speed up the process. Am I missing something? Is there any other way?

I’m afraid not! Destin’s was, and will be for many people I think, by far the most annoying part of Seeking. I hope the RNG smiles upon you!
Damn. I was so… relieved upon achieving Notablity 12. It felt like the annoying part was finally over. Frankly, it is demoralizing.
Thank you! Truth be told, I have already had the pleasure of waiting for this specific card for weeks, back when I couldn’t get my first point of Notablity. I hope this time it will be better.
I usually get the Amanuensis once or twice a day with a trimmed deck. Even without a small deck it shouldn’t be too rare, it’s only Infrequent iirc. So I wouldn’t worry about finding it. Plenty of things to do until the RNG favors you.
It’s only infrequent, so for every two times you draw "X" faction card, you should draw it once. I draw it regularly, but a twice-a-day person should still get it within a week.
It’s also possible that there will be more paths to get St Destin.
Originally, the game promised 7 ways to get St Destin’s candle (each more horrible than the last), and only 4 were implemented before the old Seeking content was put on hiatus:
- Choosing the Torment Destiny[/li][li]Passing the St Destin candle to a friend via Hallowmass confession[/li][li]Eating your entry in Slowcake’s[/li][li]Winking Isle
Obviously, new Seeking is different (e.g. can’t get St Destin’s candle on Winking Isle anymore). But maybe the other paths will be available. The Fruits of the Zee festival is due pretty soon (August?), and it’s an opportunity to choose a Destiny. Torment might yet again give the St Destin candle.
I heard the old SMEN would end if you lost your UP. Is this still the case?
Nope!
It was never the case. Unaccountably Peckish was just useful for sabotaging Peppercorn and starting the search to begin with.
Thank you!
I’m Seeking and I’m currently questioning my perceptions. I thought I would be able to start on my chains today after Time came, by using the Seeking Road and then a level from Marsh-Mired. I didn’t touch anything with marsh-mired right after Time came, but fiddled with Peckish levels to draw the right cards. I finished cryptic clue gathering and up-conversion, and by mercy of RNG, succeeded at gaining another SMEN level. However, after gaining that level, my attempts to play the Knave card for more SMEN was blocked by it saying I already had gained marsh-mired. I didn’t see gaining marsh-mired as a result for drowning secrets, and I doubled-checked the wiki. Was this level added in stealth, or did something else probably happen?
The main reason I’m not just shrugging it off is that I was relying on one marsh-mired option for the 3cp of Melancholy it can give me a week. Going from 10 to 12 by 3cp increments is going to take months even continuously. Is there any better way than this to get melancholy up to GRIEVE levels without spending money? I do have the Heart’s Blood EF season sitting around half played. Anything there notably gives cp for higher levels of Melancholy?
Personally, I’ve used Tears of the Bazaar to raise Melancholy to 12.
Someone has mentioned, though, that later on in the Seeking there are opportunities to change one’s A Question property without the Quirk requirements. I haven’t encountered this myself yet.

This is correct. At one point towards the end of the story, you will be able to choose between Hate and Grieve with the requirements removed, and the third ending if you have the requirement.
By the way, I accidentally unequipped My Own Severed Head sometime in the last 24 hours (probably when a downward-scroll flick was misinterpreted as a tap), and nothing happened. I re-equipped, un-equipped, and re-equipped again just now to test, and the only thing that happened is that the Seeking Road options that require St Gawain’s Candle locked because equipping it gives you the quality.
I spent most of last week grinding notability up to 12. Today I misclicked on a UP card and lost that final point.
On the bright side, at least I’m finally able to get my own calling card.
also could someone PM me how many proscribed materials I need?

It’s on the wiki, it’s not a secret: 2542.
Thank you
I’ve nearly reached the end of what training professions will do for me (having invested effort that should have gone to Shadowy in my quest for Correspondence Stones), so I need to consider a profession.
And I’m not exactly speed-running this, but given that Seeking is my ultimate goal, what profession is going to be most useful for me to pursue? I’m thinking Journalist/Author for the sake of the MW Nights on the Town (St Destin’s is going to be tremendously not fun, I’m positive), but if there are other good suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
