To anyone who doesn’t check Eaten’s twitter account, I would like to note that he/she/it is still posting mostly random stuff.
Delicious friends, if you are using the Option Protector, I recommend you add these lines to it (the top is fine):
/* don’t wreck Watchful when Seeking */
div[id=“branch119870”] > form > div.qreqs-and-go > div.go,
/* don’t leave the Chapel! */
div[id=“branch184775”] > form > div.qreqs-and-go > div.go,
They will save you a great deal of time and effort.
How random are all those things? Some of them seem like they’re trying to point players to some things, possibly in somewhat of the same way that some of the pre-Alexis-departure tweets were tracking (player? writing?) progress in Seeking. Like tweeting a candle name once the first person publicly got that candle.
And what was all this about? The Healing Question is the Fisher King and all that, which takes us back to The Waste Land (where we started with the dreams, so long ago). Mithridacy is inuring yourself to poisons with small doses? The last voyage of the Decommissioned Steamer was a Salty thing. Details of colour and architecture sounds like Frostfound? What did happen to Vienna and the White in Frostfound? They seemed to end up as basically the same principle operating on different levels of reality, like they got crushed together in some sort of weird anti-Nadir. Or something. But what did the Treacheries have to do with it? And what was necessary to go East again? (Another Salty thing.)
Maybe all will become clear. Or maybe it’s all terribly tongue-in-cheek.

I should do the Anarchist stuff in Sunless Sea…
Anyway, while I don’t know about Vienna, I did go through Frostfound a fair bit. Frostfound is a place of memories, of horrors, and of losing, just like Seeking. Looking at the Sunless Sea Wiki page, it does seem like a few different Treacheries are present. In fact, by analyzing Frostfound, perhaps all of them might be named.
On another note, I has an idea what the connection between Mr.Eaten and Salt might be. If I recall correctly, Mr.Eaten is sometimes referred to as King Twelve in the course of Seeking-perhaps it is not Salt who is the Hungry Monarch, but Mr.Eaten. It would make perfect sense really, especially the bits related to Storm. Why is it that Salt would send Storm messengers from Axile? Wouldn’t it be more characteristic of Mr.Eaten, who was proven friend to the Shapelings? Wouldn’t it explain Storm’s distaste for the North, and why their disciple, Slivvy, can be such a help stopping you from Seeking? Ah, but there are troubles. Namely, with the Stone bit, since the depart of the Monarch would probably have to be leaving with Veils if it were Eaten, which wouldn’t make even the slightest bit of sense. Perhaps Salt ended up allies with Mr.Eaten? It certainly seems like Salt was around for the Second City, given the Salt Sphinxes. One way or another, the mysteries of Frostfound remain.
Also, the post from Alexis seems to suggest the White being a group as I said, unless what Frostfound did to the White is taking away a close servant

Dear Seekers, I have a lore question for you. It’s not about what lies beyond the point of mystery (although I’m terribly curious about that as well, of course), so I hope someone can explain it to me.
So, I’ve read some Seeking echoes, and noticed that one delightful entity who speaks in brackets and says things like "We will freeze together" and other sweet nothings. I made two assumptions that seemed obvious at the time: that this is the same entity you meet in the Nadir when getting St.Erzulie’s candle, and that it is Mr.Eaten himself, or a shade of him, or something that once was Mr.Eaten, etc.
But then I saw someone saying that the thing you meet in the Nadir is actually a remnant of Millicent Clathermont, and the wiki seems to support that (the "Queen of inks" title and Millicent’s portrait are obvious clues). So… Is it really Millicent? Because I really liked the idea of Mr.Eaten whispering all those creepy things to you. What does she have to do with SMEN? Does Mr.Eaten himself appear at all in the storyline, in any form? (Before the point of mystery, I mean.)
I hope this question doesn’t violate the rules. I do want to play SMEN myself eventually, but the curiosity is killing me right now, I cannot wait :D
Also, what’s the deal with someone having cheated? Did that really happen? How’s that actually possible?

It’s Millicent, or more accurately the part of Millicent that got burned out by Irrigo during her transformation/change into Lilac. She seems to know a lot, for some reason.

Thanks for answering. Still think it’s weird though… Does she have any reason/motive to stick with you all the way North?
The explanation you want is “Give up your solitude” on QUEEN OF INKS, the description of which is:
(You can take the candle. But I can’t give it up. All I am left is its watcher. Take it, and you take me too. You’ll never be alone again.)
And the success text is:
(I love you)
(You imagined me. What else could I do but love you?)
I actually find her presence quite lovely.

I’m not sure they should all be considered together as hinting towards the same thing-- it seems to me they work better as individual hints that help you understand or think differently about either mechanics or story beats? I could be totally off base, but:
[ul][li]To go East for Salt’s Song, you needed the Price Unpaid, which is to say: nothing. To get "Who is Salt?" you need to give up most of your items.[/li][li]Mithridacy seems like a clue to "illuminating" the story, or its themes, more than a mechanical tip like the Song – poisoning yourself with exposure to little madnesses, treacheries, and violences to inure yourself to the main nastiness surrounding Eaten himself is my guess. Or possibly drowning your secrets forever in preparation for drowning a whole lot of yourself in the Nadir.
[/li][li]I have no idea what "staggered hatching of birds of prey" could possibly refer to, frankly.[/li][li]Or "details of colour, details of internal architecture", but I’m not that far along just yet. I could guess – there are things to do with irrigo, and you do spend some time inside the Nadir. Or inside a few other places along the way. It’s a mystery.
[/li][li]My understanding is that to sail NORTH, you need to decommission your ship! If so, this one’s quite direct. But pointing you at the other instance of this is perhaps thematically important.
[/li][li]I have no idea about the Vienna/Frostfound clue.[/li][li]Or Sand.[/li][/ul]
This is fantastic, I can’t count the number of times I’ve misclicked and done something silly. Thanks for the heads up.
Quick question: a while ago I was an unnacountably stupid and decided to get rid of my Unnacountably Peckish for whatever reason. Now that I have realised my mistake and wish to follow the Marsh-Mired route for a while, what’s the easiest way to gain 1UP without having any already?
edited by Dudebro Pyro on 7/14/2016
If you have a Starveling Cat you can get one point of UP by sending it to someone (you can partner with someone to send a cat back and forth), or 3 points of UP via the Bats and Cats option in the Flit.
Choosing Hate/Grieve does not lock me later on out of Salt question, right?
Not at all: in fact, you need to choose either Hate or Grieve to unlock the Salt question, and you can change questions at numerous points, at least once with all of the quirk requirements removed.

Thank you!
So the results seem strangely at odds with the more official story… is the forum just weighted towards the Contrarian but the general populace isn’t or did he get a swell of support from somewhere?
Did you mean to post that in a different thread, or are you simply wanting to know the Seekers’ opinions on the matter?

Thanks for this! I’d been holding back because Grieving seemed more in-character, but if it can be changed then there’s no reason to hold back.
(Y’all, everyone else has already read the echoes of the trailblazers, but I deliberately did not, and the writing is SO. GOOD. Five more levels of Seeking and I can go NORTH. I can’t wait.)
