Seeking Mr Eaten's name

Time has now begun visiting me again, beyond the Gate. Seems it was a bug after all!
Not sure whether this has been observed before but apparently Time the Healer finally gives up on you when you’ve been North for 100 weeks. :D

How do I know?

This character of mine went North almost exactly two years ago. They had 10 x Irrigo when they did, meaning that every single TtH visit since gave 10 x Fleeting Recollections.

A few weeks ago, TtH stopped visiting. I first thought this was a bug, when I realized that they now have exactly 1000 x Fleeting Recollections.

Could some old-timey Seekers who went North before me log into their accounts and see when TtH dropped by last?

Maybe this is a bug. Or maybe FB finally deactivated TtH visits for accounts in a place they won’t ever leave, and it was just coincidence that it happened when I had exactly 1000. Either way, I’d like to know :D
It’d be interesting to know what triggers the reactivation of TTH for an account. I have a mothballed alt for Ambitions that no longer received TTH after a while of non-use. That being said, I’ve not touched my old character beyond the Gate in around a year and TTH is still going for them.

…I missed Seeking too much, so I started Seeking again on my main account. Though I plan on doing it Very Slowly this time.

I’ve been seeking for a while, and taking a look at the guide on the wiki it seems i’ll need to stain my soul.
However i’ve sold my soul, and without it you can’t access the storylet to increase Stain on your Soul.
Is there a way to gain a stain without paying fate to recover my soul?

The first option on the &quotOne’s Public&quot card is the best option, although turning to piracy at Zee is all right if you can handle the suspicion. Anecdotally I’ve rediscovered my soul 5 times in 18 months, so the odds aren’t fantastic, but certainly tenable over enough time.

Frigging big congratulations!

thanks, i didn’t know it was possible to be (almost) fate-locked out of SMEN… i guess i’ll have to grind for recovering my soul too :/

I’m starting on the SMEN quest even though I only have the one account. Is that a bad thing? XD

It should be fine. You have to make a lot of sacrifices to reach the end of the quest, but you can stop in the middle if you feel that it is too much. There are technically 4 different endings to Seeking, 3 of which require you to render your account useless, but turning back before the Gate will give you an unique item for your efforts.

A lot of people do end up making an alternate account so that they can find out what’s NORTH, but its not a deal breaker.

I might have to make an alternate account then since I rather like my main character. I can at least go as far as to before the point of no return XD

Is it possible to draw cards related to weeping scars/stain on your soul/memory of chains directly from your deck?
Is it possible to draw cards related to weeping scars/stain on your soul/memory of chains directly from your deck?
Only for the very first Weeping Scar at SMEN 7. Otherwise, no. You have to force draw through the Seeking Road.

thanks!

I’m guessing this thread is where people will be most familiar with the topic: what’s the best grind for Appalling Secrets? Is there anything better than UB for clues and upconverting?

If you haven’t been chucked out of the university, interviewing the Department of ____________ staff on &quotinvestigations in the university&quot to gain casing plus clues and then cashing it in via raiding a message drop on &quotthe heights of Chicanery&quot in the Flit for more clues is the way forward. It pays slightly better than AotB but more importantly it pays entirely in clues.

Dang, I have in fact finished the university storyline. I don’t remember AotB giving any appalling secrets or things that can be converted to them though, what do you mean by that?

Hmm - relatively recently arrived and I appear to be Seeking now. Not entirely sure I want to either! Just out of curiosity, are there opportunities to back out of this if you want to?

Numerous. At every turn, pretty much.

Phew! Thank you.
