Seeking Mr Eaten's name
I have a question about weeping scars.

Does the option to remove them in flute street only show up if you aren’t currently seeking the name? If not, where does it show up?

It only shows up if you don’t have the Seeking Mr Eaten’s Name quality.

Would one recommend maxing stats before pursuing the name?
Would one recommend maxing stats before pursuing the name?
It is by no means necessary. To accelerate Seeking, the main thing needed is absurd quantities of Appalling Secrets, Mourning Candles, and Searing Enigmas. There is around a 20-week incubation period from the start of Seeking to the point where it becomes to dominate gameplay, and that’s plenty of time to gather everything you need to finish Seeking.

There are a few advantages that high stats offer that can make Seeking easier, though; unlocking Bats and Cats in the Flit and high enough stats for Pygmalion in Mahogany Hall are effective for managing Unaccountably Peckish, for instance. However, this is primarily for characters who have already reached this point; it’s still better to begin as soon as possible.

BTW, this is a little late, but a note to all the people getting excited by the activity on the Mr Eaten twitter account, a few posts upthread: It’s probably to do with the Cultist Simulator enigma, and not so much the SMEN storyline.

I suggest raising Watchful as high as you can, and if you aren’t at the base cap, have inventory modifiers on hand, as you’ll need it as Seeking progresses.

You need Watchful 200 to progress on Winking Isle. The other stats don’t matter.

Thanks to all who answered. I’ve been neglecting my alt so I will take a small break from answering the call of hunger to upping my Watchful. There are other avenues I’d like to complete anyhow.

Well. I acquired St Gawain’s Candle… but there’s a bug currently in FL that seems to trigger when auto-moving to a new area: it fast-forwards the storylet result so that it appears but disappears immediately afterward (I don’t get to see anything, it happens in a blink). The location banner changes so I know I’ve moved to Lodgings, but I get sent back to the previous storylet (the one where I’m about to choose who to sacrifice for St Gawain’s). Which is itself unplayable because I’ve technically already played it, and clicking Go again doesn’t take me to any story outcome, but shunts me to the Seeking Road choices in Lodgings.

Words can’t describe how supremely frustrated I am that I didn’t get to see or save the storylet outcome of St Gawain’s Candle, and missed finding out what items/qualities I get in the process… all because of a bug. Could someone please PM me the text or a screenshot of it, as well as the item/quality changes, that trigger with the outcome? (While we’re at it, if you have the storylet text for all the 3 potential choices/outcomes for St Gawain’s Candle, I’d love to see them all too.)

Many, many thanks!!! UPDATE: Done, big thank you to Parvorus.

This should be interesting!

What a waste. You should have let someone betray you. It would have been a big help for a fellow seeker and you would have one point of seeking more now (I made the same mistake, by the way).

Sooo I finally did it, North, north, north…

I chose to hate (what is due) would anyone else be kind enough to pm the other endings?

Thanks in advance!

The Shifty Spectre is gone, gone to grieve what is forgotten. (I’d also love to read the other endings if someone could PM them too. Thank you.)

Sent.

Posting it here in case people didn’t know… An Obsidian Well (forum thread here) is a memorial wall for all NORTH-departed Seekers. Feel free to add your name there. (I’m not the creator of the Tumblr, but it’s still being updated!)

Not sure whether this has been observed before but apparently Time the Healer finally gives up on you when you’ve been North for 100 weeks. :D

How do I know?

This character of mine went North almost exactly two years ago. They had 10 x Irrigo when they did, meaning that every single TtH visit since gave 10 x Fleeting Recollections.

A few weeks ago, TtH stopped visiting. I first thought this was a bug, when I realized that they now have exactly 1000 x Fleeting Recollections.

Could some old-timey Seekers who went North before me log into their accounts and see when TtH dropped by last?

Maybe this is a bug. Or maybe FB finally deactivated TtH visits for accounts in a place they won’t ever leave, and it was just coincidence that it happened when I had exactly 1000. Either way, I’d like to know :D

:edit: Corrected 1000 weeks to 100. It’s not been that long yet :P

The 57th Time the Healer for my Seeker came a few days ago, so it’s not something affecting everyone up NORTH, which supports the idea that there is a cut-off at 100 weeks.

If anyone needs to be betrayed, send me a message.

I recently went NORTH and finish SMEN after more than a year. I enjoyed it a lot. I asked about Salt.

Would anyone please PM me the other endings? I asked a few days ago in Discord, but no luck.

Thanks in advance!

Hello, I’ve been seeking in the background for some time now. Following a Noman murder spree I’ve just obtained the first 3 candles. I’ve also got a calling card and I’m currently at SMEN 31. It looks like the only way to progress further is to spend an obscene amount of resources or travel to winking isle and give it all up. While I will go to winking isle one day I’d like to play just a bit longer. Can I still obtain st Destins candle with the Hallowmass option for less then 35 SMEN?

It’s possible to get St Destin’s Candle at Hallowmas without SMEN 35, but that requires finding someone else with SMEN 35 (and without the candle) willing to send it to you.

Winking Isle is not a one-way trip that locks you out of the game. You can go, gain a few points of SMEN, come back, do things in London, return to Winking Isle, and continue to go back and forth.

The point of no return is embarking on an expedition to the North.
