Seeker's Lament (a SMEN song)

Some time ago, in a thread about neathy music I believe, Daniel Vaise offered lyrics for a SMEN inspired song of their own design.

Interested, I contacted them to obtain a sample of the melody, then asked my guitar teacher to make chords for it so that I can play it.

Then promptly found out I do not have the skill to play it, and promptly forgot about it.

Until, that is, I found myself with some spare money, which is when I remembered and dug them up again, and then sent the whole lot to Tom Savage via fiverr to perform the song for me.

The result, with permission from all involved, can be found here.

I will copy the lyrics and chords here as well, for your convenience:

G moll D dur G moll
'round in a city, a hunger was broiling
G moll D dur
Lights were a-flutter, candles aflame,
G moll D dur
Out through my door, I stumbled, I tumbled,
G moll
Off to the darkness, to find out The Name

C moll G moll
Shunned and reviled,
G moll
Cast out and broken,
C moll
Spat on, despised,
G moll
But still I maintain
C moll G moll
For I never meant to go out a-Seeking,
D dur G moll
Eaten and eating, the same old refrain

G moll D dur
A Chain and a Stain, a Cat in my cradle,
favours called out, more favours still owed,
my life is devoured, my mind is in shambles,
but this a-reckoning will not be postponed

Seeing and dreaming,
In my mouth ashes,
The Surface, it calls me,
But here I remain,
For I’ve never meant to go out a-Seeking,
Seven and Seven, again and again

On now to the NORTH, to treason and hatred,
On now to fate ever-far worse than hell,
On now to find that which was forgotten,
Mayhaps I’ll drown all my woes in a Well

A Torment is marked,
The last wick is burning
This journey’s end
No man can now tell.
For I’ve always meant, to go out a-Seeking,
And all manner of things,
They shall be well.
