Fallen London is due for some scheduled maintenance this morning and may be down for 10-20 minutes. Thank you for your patience in advance. Please inform any of your own delicious friends. Thanks!
The maintenance broke some stuff. For example, for the conflict card between the Constables and the Rubbery Men, the game instructions about the loss of Favours or Connected have been truncated.
It has been the same for all the conflict cards I have seen
Note the techy code seeping through in the message.
The Roof-Top: Urchins.
Return a treasure to the urchins
You’ve recently come into possession of a Night-Whisper. The thing’s worth a tidy sum. The Duchess has enquired whether you’d part with it. Devils ask politely if there’s anything – anything at all – they can do for you. Then, one day, there’s a knock at your door. A Brazen Urchin fidgets guiltily on the doorstep. “'Scuse me, qvd:Addressed As:(SpeechInformal).” he mutters. “Could we 'ave our Night Whisper back?”
If you’re not currently Closest To anyone else, this will make you Closest to the Urchins.

Forgotten Quarter Thieves’ Cache expedition is borked.
UPDATE: The storylet to continue the expedition is the culprit. My characters who have yet to start any expedition can still access the Forgotten Quarter without any E500 screw-up.
UPDATE 2: This also borks the Message tab. F***.

So is the criminals card, the story tab is no longer accessible.
One would think that maintenance cycles are supposed to fix things, not screw them over.
All is NOT well.

You can work around this by going into the inventory tab and opening the storylet for any item with options. Backing out should bring you back to the proper user interface.
Thank you!
Variables are still poking through in to text, in the “Knowledge should serve humanity” choice from What is it all for? after finishing the university: "…“I… appreciate spending time with someone who understands. Reach further, qvd:Addressed As:(SpeechFormal) – beyond the zee…”
A separate issue to the one above is causing problems with about two dozen storylets. We expect to have a fix in place shortly.
All should now be well. If you notice any other issues, please let us know at support@failbettergames.com.
Something seems to have come adrift with the SSL for Failbetter/Storynexus today, and it’s been like this for a little while now: I can’t login to FL using https (nor these forums, either). I’m posting here in case it’s just me - can other people check to see if the same is the case for them?
I have logged into several other SSL protected sites to check, without any issues. So I don’t think it’s just me.
I can (with intermittent success) force Firefox to access the login page using SSL by manually adding https:// to the front of the URL - but when I log in, most of the game fails to display. Viewed via the non-secure login, all displays normally.
I’ve been noticing some intermittent issues where the action and card timers seem to be slow client-side. The timers don’t refresh when they should, but after reloading the page they’ve already refreshed my actions/cards.
I also have this failure to refresh, especially for menaces.
