Removing ability to create new worlds, Jan 2nd

We’d like to let you know that we’ll be turning off the ability to create new worlds in StoryNexus in about seven weeks’ time, on the 2nd of January, 2019. You’ll still be able to edit your existing worlds.

Can you at least say if this is good or bad news for the future of Storynexus users?

Judging by Alexis not being involved any more and my own cynicism, I’m guessing bad. But hey, I’m a pessimist at heart. Maybe I’m wrong.

Just in case this should mean StoryNexus will be shut down some time next year (or even if not), maybe we should take this as a reminder to go play the best StoryNexus games while we can! :)

Btw I’m still up for crowdfunding Meg Jayanth to finish Samsara. Just saying… :poke:

Is there a little list of the best games somewhere?

There’s a link in my previous post to another post where I listed the most complete worlds.

Hey gang! I’m sorry this seemed a bit ominous. We have a ton going on with the launch of Sunless Skies coming up but we needed to make this change. We’ll be back once the dust has cleared after Skies’ launch with more information. But I agree; it’s a great time to enjoy the worlds that have been player favourites! Thanks :)

Duh! Sorry to have been so dense – first quick glance before morning coffee, still half blind. I appreciate your very patient response.

I have a cyberpunk game with just under 2,000 storylets, although it’s not officially published yet. I can PM a link if anyone’s interested.

It used to be possible to see a list of Story Nexus worlds on the Fallen London account page. That no longer seems to be the case. Where can one find those games?

It still works from every other SN game, via &quotSee More Worlds&quot in the orange bar’s drop down menu. For example: StoryNexus :)

Thanks, Phyrne! I’ll have to check that out.

This is an extremely stressful time for someone who has spent three years developing a game using this system… I just hope I can make Unity work just as well if need be. We all await the news, Failbetter. I just hope it doesn’t mean the end of the work me and many other developers have put into their worlds.

Think it would be better to start discussing alternatives (even improved ones) instead of just waiting. I’m sure there some out there!

As frustrating it may be, this isn’t really such a big surprise. So I wish you all, those affected by this, good luck and best wishes!

Haha yeah, I have looked into everything but I am not having much luck getting the storynexus feel back into anything else. Some people could transfer to Twine but I might look into making my own Unity port.

Were it not ready to go down at any moment, I would recommend Inklewriter. I’ve used it once to write a time-travel story involving, yes, killing Adolf Hitler.

Although, Inklewriter was planned to go down in August of 2018, and is ready to go down at any moment.

I would recommend Twine, a much more flexible and almost identical platform.

Well, I truly hope good news are coming. Recently got back into Fallen London, and I had some plans for stories on StoryNexus. Here’s hoping for a good future!

Alright. We’ve waited for 4 months and it’s most definitely past the first quarter of 2019. Can us creators actually know what is going to happen to our work now?

This is getting really frustrating, Failbetter. This is month seven.
