Pyramid Number Spreadsheet

Hi folks, I had just created a spreadsheet with a list of progress points required to get to each level as well as the total amount of progress points you’ll need to spend in total to reach a particular level. Thought that some of you may find it useful, so here’s the link!

Great idea to post a spreadsheet but, I’m really sorry, I don’t think you have the columns quite right. The number of change points needed to progress from level (n-1) to level n is n - for example, to progress from level 9 to level 10 requires 10 points. (That’s up to level 50, after which it’s always 50 change points to go up to the next level no matter how high the level gets.)

So, I think what you have in the “To Next” column is actually the “Total Spent”. For example, to get to level 4 starting from nothing, you need a total of 1+2+3+4=10 points.

Or to put it another way, the formula in Appendix A of the manual is the total number of change points needed starting from zero, not the number needed starting from the previous level.

Cheers

Huh, that’s weird. I just copied and pasted the Excel formula link that was in the documentation into Excel and got those results.

EDIT: Ohhh wait, I think I get what you’re trying to say. Fair enough!

The key word in the Appendix is “total” but, yes, it could be a bit clearer… perhaps if it said “starting from zero” or something like that.
