PSA: During the Feast you can increase your An Intimate of Devils without risking your soul

THERE. I finally got it to 18! No more A Serious Offer cards!

What’s wrong with selling your soul? (I didn’t do it.)

Roleplaying: Closest to Hell, Hell-ish Ambition, profession, cameo, lodging, siding with the Hell faction at every chance.

Selling your soul adds a not-great card to your deck–it’s Unusual, so this isn’t an awful thing, but extreme optimisers dislike it for this reason–and in addition, it locks out some options in various locations in the game. (Look for the requirement “you unlocked this because you don’t have any Your very own Infernal Contract”, those are locked the moment you sell your soul.)

For RP reasons, I’ve tried to have absolutely as little to do with the Church or Hell as organizations as possible, and selling my soul at all would be Right Out.

You can use Overcompensating Dice to safely raise Intimate of Devils on the “A Serious Offer” cards, but the Intimate gains on those cards are capped at 17, and that isn’t enough to remove those same cards from your deck.

To remove the cards, you need to raise Intimate to 18 using A Dance with Devils during the Feast of the Rose.

Got it. So the cards + die uses can help you need A Dance with Devils only once, but you’ll still need it at least once to stop getting offers for your soul without accepting any of them.

For some reason I thought that you could break free if you passed the luck checks of the serious offers a ludicrous & unlikely number of times. Not sure why I thought that, as that’s never been true.

So sorry for my late reply and thanks to LordBolo for deciphering my message.

Ye, same here! It’s been quite a few years since I finished it, but reminders are always good!
