"Perhaps not" didn't return card to my hand?

I hope this is the right place for this. I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered a card disappearing when they pick &quotperhaps not&quot?
I’ve been carefully holding on to the Slowcake’s Amanuensis card in my hand on the offchance that I might gather enough Making Waves to turn into notability. With all the calling cards flying about I thought I might have enough, but I couldn’t remember how much I needed, so I opened the card to have a look, (I just wanted to see what the probability was).
Then then noticed that it said that extra Dreaded would help, so I didn’t close the card, but hopped over to the &quotmyself&quot tab to switch out a few items, then went back to &quotstory&quot to check the probability again. The card was still open, and it had improved (woo, 8 dreaded! :p) but not really enough to risk it, so I hit &quotperhaps not&quot expecting the card to return to my hand. Instead it vanished :( I don’t need it right now, but I was pretty close to using it, and a little annoyed I have to hope it flips up again before Time, the Annoyance comes calling :p
I’m wondering if my switching items while the story was open might have broken something?

Is that a thing that gold-bordered cards do? Or just that card? Or is it a bug? Or have I missed something completely obvious? (entirely likely sheepish grin) Anyway, if someone knows what the deal is with this I’d love to know :) I would rather avoid losing any more cards I want to keep just because I read them.

If you use an option that returns you to the storylet of the card it will count the card as used when you perhaps not it. Did you ask about notability or use anything other than increase notability?

Oh! I did look at one of the 0-action options! The one that asked why would I want to be notable, I think? Sorry! facepalm I did that before I went to switch out items, but I completely forgot about it until you asked, because it dropped me back on the card. embarrassed Well I feel silly now. Thanks for the info.

But still, I think it should be made clear that reading one of those 0-action options will make the card vanish when you exit, I’m sure I can’t have been the only person to be caught out by it.
