Made it less easy to accidentally skip the puzzle. If you have ‘Sighting…’ qualities left to report back to Mr Dinners, it is no longer possible to move onto the next step.,
Any players who have progressed past the puzzle and had obtained 3+ Sightings have been granted the puzzle’s unique reward, An Urchin with a Fondness for Cowls and Capes, if they did not already possess it.
These now generally represent the maximum possible difficulty for a given quality during a plot. Where difficulty is unconventional or dynamic, representative levels have been chosen. (e.g. The new Infiltration plot.)
It is now possible to acquire and keep duplicate items of equipment that were previously limited to one.
Duplicate Wrecking Boots, Semi-Automated Mary Lloyds, Cured Jillyfleur Cloaks, Faceted Decanters of Drownie Effluvia, Nuncian Pocketwatches and Scrimshander Carving Knives will no longer automatically be converted to Memories of Distant Shores once the festival ends (although they can still be sold manually).,
Duplicates of many of the festival’s other items of equipment will be purchasable from ‘Perusing the Island Stalls’ when it opens in the second week of the festival.
Whoah, great news for those who wish to equip their Agents!
I hope that the Inquisitive Lamp-Cat is among the items you can get multiples of. We need to be able to gather a school of them!
Question just out of curiosity! (And bc the wiki will probably need updated)
Does this mean these items will no longer be purchasable, or will the prices simply rise to be the same as the price to turn them in? (I imagine y’all wouldn’t want an infinite favor glitch, so it makes sense that they won’t be available for less any longer!) The update indicates no longer purchasable but I want to verify before I give out incorrect info
The weasel of woe update is funny. Was there a reason that people would do that? Seems like it had no benefit but also I don’t see a problem with it, so I don’t quite get why it was patched, anybody know what the exploit with it was?
I heard about some people equipping it to get failure text for the wiki (a lot of plots only had success text listed) but given “failing on purpose” is kinda the woesels whole job i don’t think that counts as an exploit/something FBG would patch the game over?
I would be the one collecting those failure text and while doing so found a bug: failing to recruit the mole resulted in a loop of failures where you would gain free 4 CP of suspicion. While this would have been a great exploit during Hollowmas, you Agents tab ended up being stuck in that step.
I appear to be one of the dozen or so people who have journals so large that I can’t add any more entries. According to the new journal I have 3,824 pages of entries stretching back almost 12 years! Is there a way to bulk export my entire journal? I know that using scrapers is probably a TOS violation, but I don’t want to lose my records. And after that is there a way to bulk delete, say, the most recent 3500 pages of entries?
I would prefer not to delete anything, but I understand the technological (and financial?) need for this limitation. That said, as the game goes on and more content is added, I predict that more and more long-time players are going to hit this limit, which may cause extra work for FBG staff. You may want to consider increasing the maximum size of journals to avoid this from happening too often in the future.
Check the main announcement of the Journal update. FBG instructed the 12 (!) people whose journals are already over the limit to contact support within this month if they wish to trim their journals.
There isn’t currently a main announcement to check! FBG posted this to reddit and bsky, but the official news post must be stuck in draft folder or something.
You’re right! I saw the forum thread titled “Journal Update” and assumed it was an official announcement, but no, it was just made by a community member.
I like the journal changes a lot. This is fantastic.
The option to feature a tag on the profile is really interesting. I hadn’t imagined anything along those lines at all, and I look forward to experimenting with it.
One question: would it be a problem to filter our journal by entries we have not yet tagged? I can imagine fun, non-obvious problems that addition might cause, but if it’s safe, I’d appreciate it.
FWIW, there’s something odd going on with some accounts - trying to load the profile shows an error in the JS console when a request to https://api.fallenlondon.com/api/profile?characterName=USERNAME returns a 404. The page fails to show any content.
For instance, the entry linked to in this post exhibits this behavior:
Tried in Safari + Chrome, as well as in incognito. No change in behavior.
Doesn’t appear to be something simple like “all profiles with an HTML-escaped character”, since the profiles of other users in that discussion also feature a name with a space but successfully load…
