(It is now a Persuasive + Player of Chess additive check and no longer an obscured, difficulty 1500 Player of Chess check!

:open_mouth: No wonder I failed!

Thanks, especially for the typo fixes; it was getting rather distracting to read some of the text.

Week Ending 4th April

  • The Clamorous Cartographer’s cards now correctly disappear from your hand if she is disabled.
  • Looking for the Feastmen at the Court now only increases progress on a success.
  • Adjusted some branch visibility during the main chapter narrative to reduce confusion.
  • The Last Duchess no longer accompanies the player on certain forays into the Stacks while imprisoned by the Feastmen.
  • Fixed a sneaky off-by-one error when determining airship travel encounters that could, under certain rare circumstances, display the wrong encounter.
  • You can now drink Darkdrop Coffee in ‘A Kingdom on the Roof’ in Burgundy.
  • ‘Half Past the Hour’ now has its result text split across three branches, to help with pacing (action cost remains unchanged).
  • ‘The Spoils of Rebellion’ can now pay out in a Soothe & Cooper Long-Box.
  • Officer reputation qualities are now shown on the Myself page, under the ‘Acquaintance’ category.

Thank you! This is a nice change. Could you also consider adding an option to eat tinned jellied mushroom cakes? Since it’s now possible to buy deck refreshes there using fate, it would be great if it were possible to use the refresh item as well.

There weren’t any notes to share last week! We at FBG towers aren’t working tomorrow, so here are this week’s notes early:

Week Ending 18th April

  • Added AI Transparency Statement to the credits page.
  • Reduced cost of unlocking Parabolan Base-Camp through some Ambition-specific routes.
  • Updated a handful of older icons.
  • Adjusted the Sacroboscan Calendar in the Waswood so that two events are available per week, to make the overall loop shorter (you can still only choose one to participate in).
  • Players who did not participate in the Coilheart Games can now gain access to the Sixth Coil activity after progressing ‘Associating with Radical Academics’ to 75.

Also if you see artwork in Fallen London with too many eyes or fingers, rest assured that those are there on purpose.

I have, on occasion, had to reassure people ‘I’m not a bot; I’m just neurodivergent.’ In Fallen London, one might have to say ‘I’m not AI-generated; I’m just Starved.’

Not just starved! Sometimes when folks post fan art on reddit, we have to remind everyone that the Manager canonically has eight fingers on one hand.

Thanks to Mask of the Rose, we know that his fingers depend on the viewer’s state of mind. There’s a scene where one character sees him with the standard-issue ten, while another sees dozens - hundreds! So many fingers! So many!

Dang I really need to find time to finish my second play-through. I manage to solve the mystery but there’s definitely a lot of corners I didn’t poke into.

I see that reptiles now could have NO limbs (snakes I guess). But how can we build one? Or it’s foreshadowing.

Tentacles fill up a limb slot without counting as any limb type.

Plus, this has been so for a very long time, a couple years at least. I remember contemplating betentacled snakes not too long after the Railway concluded, as they felt rather thematic given what you can find while laying tracks.

I am fairly certain, that reptiles needed four legs for the longest time and only recently allowed two legged two armed skeletons. Amphibians could have any amount of legs from none to four.

Wasn’t it reptiles that could have three legs? I seem to recall making one from a prismatic frame.

I think that might be correct. The wiki claims that reptiles can have either 0-4 legs, or exactly 2 arms and 2 legs.

One of the many firm believes I hold, that turn out to be utterly false…

…On the other hand, the current “Assemble a Skeleton” hint text says this:

Buyers in the Bone Market are currently most interested in reptiles, which require a head, a tail, and up to four limbs – either two arms and two legs, or four legs, or no limbs at all.

Which is really confusing. Because is it “up to four”, or “either zero or four”?? I guess we won’t really know until someone checks that.

iirc, reptiles can have:

  • exactly two arms and exactly two legs; OR
  • up to four legs and no arms (so three legs and a prismatic frame is fine)

I guess it’s a new group of reptiles discovered by the Neath scientists, other than the existing saurischian and ornithischian. Behold, the tripods.
