I believe if you link your Fallen London account to your Sunless Sea copy you can get the Parabolan Kitten as a Mascot. Aside from that they’re just cute.

Well, there’s the Grubby Kitten. If you haven’t got a pet from having a Rendezvous on Watchmaker Hill, befriend an urchin and head that way. Other cats: the starveling cat is only useful in the limited circumstances when you want to be injured and driven closer to insanity (wretched beast), the midnight matriarch can be purchased from the bazaar for a large number of echoes, and you can be gifted with a cat painted pink during the Feast of the Exceptional Rose. In addition, a tigress can be purchased from the Bazaar (also expensive), if you take a tincture of vigour to the tomb colonies you may find a tomb lion who could follow you home, and if you help a Bishop with rather bizarre search for an ally, the expenditure of fate could allow you to make a corresponding ocelot who likes to have his tummy rubbed.
Hmm. I got the disappointing marsh wolf and I also gained the Starveling Cat.
Perhaps, I’d like the Parabolan kitten for the sake of Sunless Sea.

You can swap out the wolf if you want to - when the wolf’s card comes up, get rid of him. You’ll then be able to go back to the rendezvous and pick another pet.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that the Midnight Matriarch can be gotten from playing Box the Cat or whatever it’s called, if you’re really lucky.

I would love a Parabolan kitten to add to my menagerie. Having never been to Parabola myself, I am quite intrigued by such a kitten.

How often do you get a new batch of kittens?
They’re farmed. If you have a Parabolean Panther, you get an extra option on the society, docks, and bohemian cards (it would be the three contacts cards with MW options, of course). That option takes you through to a different area in Parabola, depending on the card used. Then, depending on the airs of London, you can either chose between helping your friend find her mate and searching for material gain (not worth it), or else have to escape a certain Ophidian gentleman.
Once you’ve successfully searched three times, the fourth time you avoid the Ophidian in Parabola you’ll have the option of meeting her mate. If you make yourself absent, then, well, she seems slightly flustered when she rejoins you.
After that, time the healer will bring news of the consequences of the Panther’s pairing. You can assist her, or not, and either way you end up the proud guardian of three to five kittens, and a slight hit to your quirks.
Overall, I prefer not to farm the kittens as I generally have other things I want to do with the contact cards, and it can hardly be considered a profitable venture.
I would very much love to adopt a kitten.
