Notability and Paramount Presence

Hello,

i’m looking to rise above other lowly londoners by achieving Paramount Presence status so just want to check if i understand well the path that needs to be taken.
Can you please confirm this is correct or something is missing:

  1. raise X attribute to 200 and Notability to 5
  2. use Unfinished business action for that attribute (lose 5 notability) - gain attribute-specific POSI title
  3. raise notability to 15
  4. use Unsigned message card to convert Notability to attribute value of 215
  5. use Unfinished business action with Barister to access London’s Blood, Marrow, Sinew or Nerves
  6. Complete only 1 of 3 available options
  7. Raise Notability to 12
  8. Use Attend to Matters of Society to change POSI title by losing 12 Notability
  9. Go to 1, repeat 3 times
  10. PROFIT!

Am I understanding correctly that 32 Notability will be used for for every attribute?
Is attribute value 215 lost after reseting POSI title in step 7?

Thanks.

You keep any stat bonuses you’ve gotten even when you lose the specialisation. Otherwise, you’re correct. You can pay fate to clear your specialisation also but it’s not worth it; you need to “pay” 5 notability to respecialise and the earlier notability points are much easier to reobtain than the later ones, so it’s a false economy.

I also recommend you get to 6 Notability before you respecialise, purely so you’re not waiting for Slowcake’s card afterwards (You need 1 notability to summon him from your lodgings).

With hight BDR you can summon card, spend all Notability and buy one Notability without need MW.

You still need MW, though. If you have Notability 5 to respecialize, summoning the Amanuensis requires having enough MW to hit Notability 6. Whether you get the level before or after specializing makes zero difference.

I have 8 Bizarre, 7 Respectable and 7 Dreaded, so first point of Notability is priceless. I can summon card to hand, spend all notability and use card to buy first Notability point.

Yeah depending on BDR you might be able to simply do it with 0 Making Waves or less than level. Caroline does not need to start gathering MW till level 5, and I am sure a number must have much higher BDR than she does.

You need Notability 5 to respecialize. You can only summon the card if you have enough MW to get the next level, so with your 22 BDR, you’d need MW 18 after that. Whether you buy Notability 6 immediately and then spend five levels, or you spend the five levels and then buy Notability 1, you need the same MW and spend the same number of actions. There’s no difference.

Are you sure about Notability 5 to respec?
I’m now POSI: Legendary Charisma and don’t have anyore respec options under Unfinished business storylets of other attributes. But under Attend to Matters of Society, there is an option A Reputation of Some Importance: Another Way, which requires 12 Notability.

By respec, we’re referring to choosing a new specialization after removing one the way you mention.

nod You need to grind to Notability 15 for each stat, grind back to 12 to remove your specialization, and then grind up to 5 to pick a new one. With enough BDR gear, of course, you can get to Notability 5 essentially for free. Note that due to the pain of the RNG, grinding to six instead of 5 will make that process much faster.

15 -> overcap -> 0 -> receive first point -> 12 -> remove specialization -> 0 -> first point -> 5 -> select specialization -> 0 -> first point -> 15 -> repeat :D

For passing point from partner, does he/she/it have to be PoSI for this?

Only POSIs get Notability.

Not necessary. I have my non-POSI partner with 1 Notability. He got it with marriage. And since we are divorced now, we’ll both get another point soon.

For me, that 1 point from wedding fits perfectly when i have 14 Notability, so practically I’m skipping grind for last point (i dump wedding organization on partner as he is catching rats quite often).

A very useful thing to keep in mind during the PP grind is that since you don’t need to be specialized in any particular attribute in order to gain a given London’s X quality, there’s nothing stopping you from re-specializing as soon as you overcap a skill, even if you haven’t got the requirements for that skill’s London’s X quality.

The only caveat is that you’ll want to be careful not to do anything that might reduce that overcapped skill prior to obtaining the London’s X quality for it. If you do get a skill reduction, you’ll need to do the whole grind for that attribute all over again.
