Now there is a link on your mantlepiece page, but when I click invite I get a “error:undefined” dialog box, after saying yes to invite you. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Welcome, new Fallen Londoners! To add friends you need to add their social networks, either following (or being followed) on Twitter or becoming friends on Facebook. My Twitter is in my signature if you wish to add me :)
When I first started playing I logged in separately and wound up with 3 separate accounts by mistake. I have emailed them to see if they can delete those other accounts so I can merge my twitter/facebook with my account but in the meantime, I don’t seem to be able to do that (and I login on my main acct with an email address), the Faq said if you went to my profile page it lets you join, but maybe that’s disabled/not working right now. Once they’re able to fix my goofed up accounts for me, I should be able to add you on twitter I guess.
It says saving snippet to journal is currently disabled, so maybe that’s what you meant by the mantlepiece link? I think until they re-enable it, I can’t invite friends.

The link on your profile page is just to link people to the game, it doesn’t add them to a friends list. It’s purpose is that in the game, you can “Echo” content to your journal, as well as sharing it on facebook or twitter for your friends to see. The idea is that your friends would check on the link, see what you linked, find it intriguing and decide to play.
Also, if you check out the “Singing Mandrake” portion of the forums, you’ll find a number of threads devoted to the various parts of the game where extra help is needed. Those threads should come in handy once you get your account issue fixed :)

Alright, well like I said earlier I am new, and although computer savvy, and MMORPG / RPG savvy, browser games like this one are relatively new to me. I have completely avoided all facebook games like the plague, and now thanks to Felicia Day mentioning fallen london on one of her web series I have fallen down this rabbit hole. The game is somewhat easy to pick up, and yet quite a good bit of it is confusing to new players. I wish that they would create self-management features to unconnect profiles on our own, or to create multiple character’s / or delete and start again, once we get more comfortable with the ropes of the game, as some choices once made you wish you could unmake. But so far it’s a pretty addictive game.

Well, you CAN make multiple characters, by making separate logins (A new twitter or facebook account, or a new email). Though, I’d advise against the urge to restart and take a better route. Fallen London is about the plot moreso than about making the numbers go up, and it’s impossible to get EVERYTHING anyway. One of my key pieces of advice is to let go of the things you learn in other games, and accept that bad things not only happen, but they make us who we are.
Unless of course, your reason for wanting to start again was BECAUSE you made a choice that would have been out of character. Then by all means go ahead and do so :P
Also, on a side note, in the “The Bazaar” section of the forums, I have a stickied thread titled “Advice for new players”. Give it a shot and lemme know if you still have any questions so we can try to answer them, and then update the guide :)

All that’s really necessary to join somebody now is their in-game name. (Or you can join your Facebook or Twitter friends by linking your account.) You go to the “Friends” tab to do the linking.
