Need HELP about turncoat!!

Hi, I was following the story about the D___nable box where I had to choose either pro-/anti-government actions.
When I first offered to choose, I chose unionist accidentally. Then seeing there are still available actions for the Masters, I wasn’t sure what I was capable of. So I end up clicking this and that in turn ending up with turncoat level to 4. Now the activities are all gone and I have no idea how I could reduce the turncoat level. I searched it a little and what I found out is that I could either 1) Help revolutionaries, 2) Help the Masters, or 3) purchase fate item.

However, the problem is:

  1. My level of connected: Revolutionaries are only 10 and I don’t know where and how do I do those work for the revolutionaries
  2. Same as the above case, but just that my connected: the Masters is only 1.
  3. I don’t know where to find the fate item(a convenient lapse of memory). I couldn’t find it on the &quotFATE&quot tab…

I wanna go for the third option(the fate item) since I want to choose to work for the Masters from the beginning… but I will take whatever I can to continue the story. Please help!

If you have access to the Forgotten Quarter and are a Scholar of the Correspondence you can give a public lecture under Reaping the academic benefits to get connected Revolutionaries.

Getting connected Masters is more difficult. There are some card based options mainly giving lots of books to a certain master.

If I remember correctly you just need the Fate to use the third option.

Working for the Revolutionaries is more profitable but if you get help from them choosing the Masters options on the Carousel will give you a point of Turncoat. Though one point doesn’t do any harm and it is probably easiest to raise revolutionaries. I’m not entirely sure about the results of using the fate option.

Indeed, either just directly pay the Fate (there’s no item needed), or raise Connected: Revolutionaries.

If the wiki is up to date on this, this option requires only level 20 of Connected: Revolutionaries. You can get this to 10 easily at the side shows at the Carnival, and then to 20 using a Red-Feathered Pin (bought at the Bazaar).

Or, as Lady Ciel wrote, you can give ~14 public lectures in the Forgotten Quarter, if you’re a Scholar of the Correspondence. it’s profitable, but watch out for the Suspicion increase!.

Thank you so much for your replies! So it is easy to work with revolutionaries. I found many posts saying that helping revolutionaries is more profitable. I think I’m going to try Fate option just for the curiosity sake. Wish me luck!

Oh no, I found out that A Convenient Lapse of Memory will only remove turncoat only; I don’t think it will reset choice whether I chose for the Masters or Unionist… Guess I will try the Forgotten Quarter… Thanks anyway!

None of the Turncoat clearing options (whether via Fate, Revolutionaries, or the Masters) will change your latest choice (Masters vs. Unionists). They just clear Turncoat. If you want to change you choice again, you’ll get a new point of Turncoat. However, Turncoat doesn’t do anything until it’s 4. So if it doesn’t bother you you can ignore the quality until then.

That used to be the case, but not anymore. Currently if you seek forgiveness from the Revolutionaries you will become aligned with them, and vice versa with the Masters. A fair while back my main accidentally clicked the wrong option, and was very surprised to discover that the faction you picked to erase your Turncoat menace did affect your alignment.

Ah, very interesting. The wiki does not record this (yet).

Thanks for the clarification!

So that means if I use connected: Revolutionaries to reduce turncoat, I will get aligned with them while if reduce with connected: the Masters, I can work for the Masters then??

So I purchased some fate (just out of curiosity) but can’t find where the remove turncoat action is… couldn’t find anything on Spite… Any idea where it might be?

The Traitor’s Feast should be available if Turncoat is at 4.
You can’t see it (nor reduce Turncoat) if it’s less.

I didn’t realise it was possible to align with the masters . . . [/quote]
You can always align with the Masters. Every action on the Boxful of Intrigue carousel is a choice between being for or against the Masters. Each time you might switch sides, you’ll get a point of Turncoat.

Since even a single CP of connection to the Masters is so hard to come by, I hardly recommend to use the Revolutionaries to clear Turncoat, and then siding with the Masters will give a single point of Turncoat and that’s it. Turncoat has no effect until it’s at 4.

Hey so I found out that the fate actio doesn’t change any alignment. So if you want to change the alignment, you should go for the other 2 options.

Yes, the Fate one doesn’t change your alignment - just the other two.
