Dear friends, I had to take a rather extended trip to the surface, just around the time it became possible to open your own stall in the Bone Market. I just came back to find out we are in the midst of an election, there is a railway coursing through London, and… a Shark? My Ambition is, of course, halfway through. Oh, and I just picked up a stray Paisley glove but, I’m sure this will sort itself out.
Could a kind friend please let me know what I should do, and what is time-sensistive? I just did an Election Flash Lay, but havent’s picked a candidate yet (do we do that next week? Is it a card? How do we get the election item). How do I start the Railway story? Am I likely to be eaten by a flying shark? Is there anything else I’m missing? Answers would be greatly appreciated.
The election is only a couple of days old, and we won’t be able to pick a candidate until next week. It’s the only time-sensitive new content - the rest will wait for you. To start the railway storyline, look for a card offering an opportunity to become a shareholder in the new railway venture.
first of all, only the Election is time-sensitive. The other new content is permanent.
If I remember right, we’re able to choose the candidate and the Election Item later on in the Election. Most Likely next week. Please correct me if I’m talking non-sense here.
Since you left at the point we got the stalls, I’m assuming you’ve already got your Laboratory, right? It’s a prerequisite for the Railway content. After that’s done, there should be a new Storylet waiting for you at Moloch Street (close to Ladybones Road).
You will also need to learn about the bone market, since it provides you with much of the necessary Ressources for the Railway Content.
I haven’t met the flying shark until now so I can’t tell you much about it, but I prefere not to be eaten. :)
/edit: Diptych was right, the railway content starts with a card, afterwards the story is going on at Moloch Street. You’ll need to be a PosI to draw it.
/edit2: oh, and there is something else that’s new: 2 new clubs and additional options at the cards for the old ones. edited by Judaspriester on 7/15/2020
As far as I know the election is the same as previous years, and as I recall that means we pick the candidate and get the free gift next week. Obviously the election is the most time-sensitive thing currently happening.
For the rest of it time isn’t an issue, although the speed at which you can advance the railway is limited in that you can only do certain things on a weekly basis. That said, it won’t disappear or anything, it’ll just be longer before you can advance.
So beyond getting stuck into the election, do what you like I suppose. The railway storyline begins with a card that you should draw soon enough if you haven’t already.
You need to pick an election job to get the cards. The railway board meetings can be held, but actually building track requires an item that only becomes available after you’ve identified a lot of items in your lab and graduated a bunch of students to boot.
Thank you guys! That really helps a lot.
I drew the card quickly but my Notability had gone to… 2! I will be able to build it up quickly given my BDR. Could you please remind me where to (forcibly) draw the Amanauensis card? edited by Jolanda Swan on 7/15/2020

This moved around with the Map changes. On the map, bottom-right corner, select "Your Social Engagements" (calendar-looking icon) → Attend to Matters of Society!.
But… some of the election content is in the new areas. In particular:
Viric Jungle (Parabola)[/li][li]Bone Market (and it’s invisible until you open a stall!)[/li][li]Ealing Gardens (at least two weeks worth of Railway? plus heaps of resources)
I got slightly distracted for a few weeks and hence have no chance of progressing Railway enough before the Election finishes (and entirely missed Whitsun). There’s a link to a compilation of all the echoes on the main Election thread.
Oh, so it’s not just the Flash Lays! I see. Thank you! No idea if I will catch up, but I will do my best (and try to reconnect with friends at the same time of course).
