Has anyone else had a problem where a pop-up notification that alerts you to a completed agents mission never appeared? There’s been at least 9 or 10 times now over the last couple of months where I’ll see the pop-up, go to check out what my agent was up to, and then notice that there is another agent just sitting there, waiting for me to see their results too.
While, yes, it’s possible they could have finished at the same time, I’m not that coordinated with my agent missions, and they usually have different timings. It’s frustratingly happened enough times now that I’m wondering if there’s a bug involved, or if an agent happens to finish what they’re doing as I’m quickly clicking through a carousel of actions and thus click again before the notification appears. Or maybe there’s a timing issue with how the notification works, as I often jump between mobile and desktop devices, and I think I’ve noticed that the remaining actions counter can get messed up when I do that.
Failbetter - if you happen to read this, maybe consider having a glowing notification on the screen, similar to when you have a new message to read, when an agent is sitting idle waiting for you to review their results?
Personally I’ve seen this happen only when switching between devices. I play on Desktop, Agent has 60 actions left. I play 10 actions on mobile. I switch back to Desktop, the browser still thinks there are 60 actions left on the plot even though it’s now actually 50. Switching to the Agent tab will re-synchronize.
I get a pop-up box in the lower right hand corner of my screen, telling me an Agent completed a mission. It’s possible that box doesn’t appear for people playing on a smartphone, though
Yeah, it definitely appears on mobile. My theory that jumping between desktop and mobile, agreed by @psgarak, is probably what is going on and is screwing up the agent’s action counter behind the scenes.
I’ve just tested it on desktop, and a glow does appear on the ‘Agents’ tab, but it fades when the popup notification is closed or times out. It reappears if you refresh the window before you’ve received your agent’s report, though. It looks like this:
That’s interesting - I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that. It’s just high enough up and to the right in the desktop view that maybe my eyes just don’t scan there. Plus, I’m at the end game, so I’m usually just scrolling my screen down and looking at the action options for repeated grinding, so it goes right off the screen.
On mobile, the little shortcut icons (including the glowing message indicator!) stay on the screen as you scroll, so I always see those on my phone. But again, there’s no agent link there, since there’s only so much screen real estate for Failbetter to work with.
