I would never sacrifice animals!
Vicars are less than animals though.

Is the plant discussion in the right thread? Is this a hijack?

The bigger problem is why vicars keep on visiting you, despite knowing your penchant for feeding them to plants ;)
It’s the same vicar, who actually enjoys the experience, moge.

You know, I don’t think people can actually come back from digestion. The real question is why are there so many annoying vicars.

It’s a vicar, not a vorecar.
HOJOTOUHOU!
Larger version here, source for Reimu Hakurei here. I’m not sorry.
I’ve not played the story (holding off on becoming Exceptional until the start of the next Season), but Touhou comes to mind every time I see the name so it had to be done.
The mug-shot view is unusual in character art, finding a base image which worked with the Valkyrie’s portrait was tricky.
This Exceptional Story was the best one of this season (thought that is kind of a low bar)! I really hope future Exceptional Stories have more zero-action conversations with Topics and can change the base game itself, however slightly.

I just finished the veilgarden part, and I wanted to know what happens if you dont kill the creature instantly, if there was any way I could have prevented the poet from getting mad, and what would have happened had I chosen the other option.
I don’t think you can skip that part. Even if I just played this story 7-9 days ago I kind of forgot the mechanics as this ES truly captured me with it’s writing.
Managed to finish April’s and after getting these two done I just realized, after 12 (+2) ES, what a favourite looks like! These last two were more than incredible!
What was the story item from this one? I have the story of clay oppression, and the business dealings of a devil but didn’t see a feather (which is what I thought it gave) in my curiosity section
HEADLINE: The Valkyrie Sings, or some such similar name. It has a newspaper icon - I think it’s an item now, but when the story first came out it was a quality.

Thanks! I don’t think I have either but I’ll worry about it if the seasonal closer story doesn’t appear.
Well, seeing as we’re already way off-topic . . .
I never understood why feeding the plant vicars was such a big deal.
Don’t we all just come back to life in the Neath? XD

I agree. If I were a vicar, I would not visit ANYONE who is competing in the Tournament of Lilies. :-)
However, I doubt that anyone who is actually consumed and eaten ever comes back. Unless that person is a god, that is.

You are what you eat (especially when eating something higher up on the Chain) - so the plant becomes the vicar ;)

True. That is the peculiar attribute of St. John’s Lilies–they absorb the memories of the people they eat, and the "heads" they subsequently grow whisper those memories.
Hello! This was my first ES for my first week in the game and what a great way to start! It was already exciting enough to learn my way around this new world, but doing that while adventuring with these wonderful characters added an emotional investment I didn’t expect to find so soon. It even softened my scoundrel’s heart just the slightest bit. I enjoyed the structure of the story and played it through in "real-time" over several days, mixing my regular activities with each of the quests, sitting on the roof with the Valkyrie before logging off each night, then rushing through to the finale this morning. Great stuff, and I’m very much looking forward to the next one.
sitting on the roof with the Valkyrie before logging off each night
Okay, this is enough to convince me, I’m gonna start my Exceptional Friendship before the month’s up. How much time have I got left at this point?
Also, tangential question about Exceptional Stories in general: how do they account for differences in character progress? Finnegan just started this week and I just reached POSI this week; will I find it easier, less action-costly, or more profitable, due to my more advanced position in the game?
You have tomorrow to finish the story. A few ES have scaling difficulty, but I don’t think its that common, and the challenges aren’t too hard.
Rather, you have through tomorrow to begin the story. As long as you play the opening option of the story (not the global teaser), you’ll unlock it. You then have as long as you need to play through.

According to the in-game Help, the new ES comes out the last Thursday of the month, so if you want to play this one and Failbetter is on schedule then you have to sub and complete the first storylet before the 25th. If you complete that first storylet, it says you can play the rest at your leisure.
I’m obviously no expert about the other stories, but I don’t remember this ES having any skill checks, just matters-of-luck (mine was all bad, of course) and story choices. The reward items were a little overpowered for me and my vast personal fortune of 30 whole Echoes, so probably chump change to veterans.
