Marigold Station

At that point she was a father.
The point is storyline is still unfinished.

Marigold station is also unfinished, we’re waiting out a week-long timer.
Marigold station is also unfinished, we’re waiting out a week-long timer.
Not to mention the whole &quotexploring hell&quot angle, which seems to be an even longer-term project.

I know wondering what resources are good to grind for to spend quickly in Hell is likely futile, but I can’t help but wonder if the stock of Queer Souls the Mandolinist thanks you with is going to be part of something crucial? If nothing else, it doesn’t seem like a coincidence completing his chorus the first time earns a Prince of Hell’s location AND that you can grind them out with Balmoral and a railway-based card.
it doesn’t seem like a coincidence completing his chorus the first time earns a Prince of Hell’s location
It’s the thematically appropriate reward and they tailored the expenses to suit.
AND that you can grind them out with Balmoral and a railway-based card.
This is just part of the wider trend of providing alternative sources for all the high-value items that could previously only be traded for with scrap.

That’s not to say there WON’T be a new use for prince-locations in Hell (cf theorems and void-breaths at Hurlers), but I wouldn’t NECESSARILY read too much into it. Not all if the items with new sources have received new uses.

Edit: No idea why that post appeared three times, my apologies.

…aaaaaand nothing much again.

Really. And another cheesy carnival game of &quotpay a lot to pick a random item that may or may not be better or worse than other things.&quot

Which do you mean?

The heavenly and hell thingies.

I still have no idea what heavenly and hell thingies you mean. I haven’t been able to find anything unique in the Marigold Station so far, apart from the Forget-Me-Nots, which as yet have to play any tangible role. Am I missing something?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m delighted by all the new writing and the overall flavour, and I enjoyed the Mandolinist and Null and Void storylines. I was just hoping for something a bit more climactic in terms of interesting new items to mark the momentuous achievement of reaching Hell’s walls.

Or at least some new business opportunities beside the rather underwhelming option to trade Railway Steel 1-to-1 in a card based fashion. I’m probably never getting rid of the 170+ ingots I gathered when I thought that the new stretches of the railway will be needing as much as the most costly stretch…

I…think he’s talking about the choice between the Firkin of Starlight and seal of Hell you can use to resolve the Knight’s quest?

Exactly.

Update: Your fourth visit to Hell has more.

I am now a pretty pretty flower.

Does it? Because it seemed like nothing much, for yet another week.

Oh, they’re cute. But this is a looooooong wait now, to get some gloves.
I mean, I shouldn’t complain, we got the Zee update, which is awesome, and the Khanate is interesting, but Marigold Station seems to be less than just unfinished… it’s lacking.

Yeah, I mean the flavor text from the Hell visits, the business with the Mandolinist, the Marigolds… it’s all very fun and interesting, but somehow the overall impression is a bit anticlimactic.

I guess there’s no getting away from the fact that the real climax was the whole Creditor crisis and the founding of the tracklayers’ city, and Marigold is more like a post-script.

After how huge Hurlers was, yeah, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed by Marigold Station. It kinda feels like it has less stuff going on than Ealing, and everything seems gated behind time walls to pad it out.

Wait, you can visit Hell more than once? I just walked away once the story was over…

Yes, you can visit Hell repeatedly, but no more I think than once per week.
