I know the game is still unfinished and in a Beta-like state, but there are a number of things I have found in Sunless Sea to be not functioning as I would expect. I thought we could discuss these things before I dump dozens of "are-these-a-bug-reports" into the lap of a few very busy developers over the next few days. I’ll do my best to include screenshots and recordings when I can but those will probably come a little later.
[ul][li]Moody’s Light - When your ship is illuminated by its light, it has no effect on terror growth like all other light sources do. Intentional, because it is a "moody light" that is creepy? Screenshot
[/li][/ul][ul][li]Torpedo Nets - They can be used in combat (or at least, the action icon can be queued) even if you have them unslotted and in your hold. You can also still use them after they have been sold. Do know that I have not checked to see if these two situations still occur if you purchased Torpedo Nets but never slotted them. At one point in my current game, I replaced the nets with a Pneumatic Ratsender and I cannot recall the exact procedure I used, so if others cannot seem to replicate this, perhaps that is where the problem lies.[/li][/ul][ul][li]Torpedoes’ Minimum Illumination Requirement - The description states that they require at least 50 Illumination on the enemy, they can be launched below 50, although I have not found their actual minimum value yet. Screenshot[/li][/ul][ul][li]Repair Timer - If using the repair feature outside of battle and you are engaged at the same time, the repair timer will remain on screen throughout combat. Screenshot
[/li][/ul][ul][li]Cache of Curiosities - The dialog/gazetteer flow is inconsistent between various sources of CoC. When(if) you defeat a Lifeberg, the transition from page to page is smooth and pleasing. With other enemies, such as the Corsairs or Steam-Pinnace you leave the after battle report thing for a moment to return to navigating your ship only to have the gazetteer reappear to deal with the CoC event. Screenshots: Ideal flow and Jumpy Flow The same sort of disjointed dialog happens when you have 1-9 observations: the post-victory stuff appears over, but instants later, a poorly drawn cartoon fish informs you that you didn’t really grasp the nature of what you saw.
[/li][/ul][ul][li]Observations - Is it intentional to skip over and lock out the player from the reward of getting 10+ observations if the player chooses other options first in the victory page?[/li][/ul][ul][li]In-Combat Repairs can exceed maxhull - Using the repair options available in combat (Emergency Repairs and Pneumatic Rat Delivery) can cause your ship to temporarily have a hull value greater than its maximum. This does not persist after the battle ends. I have not tested if taking damage while over your maximum drains hull points from the displayed value or starts at whatever the hull maximum is. Screenshot
[/li][/ul][ul][li]Land not Recorded on Chart - Island-like features of this kind are not marked on the chart in many places. Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2

I think most of those are bugs or not fully worked out yet. The lifeberg transition (also seen with corsairs) is because of the auto Zee-story you get. THe Cache is a separate event altogether.
I think the map shuffling might have introduced in some imperceptible obstacles. Little tiny pieces of island that can damage your hull.
You mean that invisible island? I ran into it for a good 30 seconds before figuring out what was wrong.
Yep, invisible islands. I think there’s more than one.
[li]i thought i’d avoided it by keeping enough distance from shore (figuring it was a misplaced sprite / pixel line).
[li]but i nailed it smack! in the middle.
[li]when i immediately reversed engines … and kept hitting it, like i’d ‘materialized’ in the middle of the island instead of hitting the shore.
Great summation. All of these bugs were there before the emerald patch I think. Can’t really confirm the torpedo bugs though.
The invisible obstacles are my biggest problem, I’ve come across at least three places where I have scraped my hull when I am a fair distance from the rock or coastline. My main problem with that is remembering where they are as I tend to sail as close to the shore as possible to not gain terror. The one between the Swallowing Isles only got me once though.

[ul][li]When you have 5 or 6 mascots the interface start to be buggy. You could see only the first four and the fifth (while you equip one). Keeper-Moth and Eyeless Skull are still usable because they are categorized as "curiosity" and are visible in the "hold" section of the gazzette, but the "last" one (for me it was the keeper) have problem in visualization, when you equip it the slot seems empty, you could make it visible talking with the comatose ferret (maybe also other interaction works.
[/li][li]Not all the ships give you the discount on buying other ship (it works just for starting ship, i have to try others).[/li][li]Shops events in Khan’s Heart and Iron Republic sometimes doesn’t work properly and you could not see the new shop options.[/li][li]How exactly Blemmingams works? I have spammed them on several isles and i get the "propagation" quality, except for Godfall where i could spam them indefinitely, seems.
blemmies - one per isle, get seven in total, then return to 'shroom for reward.
also get odd event in London Docks if you dock w/blemmies on board.[li]

If you can, do take a screenshot of where you were when it happened (map, too, if possible) and bug report it. I sent one in and Paul confirmed that with that sort of information it’s easily fixable.

yeah, i get that event too! Do you know if the "propagation" it’s repeteable?
Godfall - repeated propagation is possible
Corsair’s Forest - one of the rocks to the right of Gaider’s Mourn (old save) does not stop terror increase
Sleep when you’re dead - Appears even without wounds
do you mean ‘is the London / blemmie event repeatable’, or that you can continue propagation for extra reward?
my guess is that both are repeatable, but only pay once.
i got a second green eye but the market’s been … dry.
picked up another blemmie after and just got the sense the game allows you to re-run the mission.
it doesn’t fold-out, just doesn’t pay-out.
no idea what to do with the book & too terrified to sell it and then discover it’s critical to something else.
The book you get from the “strange” stranger in London is a trade good and it’s buyable in khan’s Heart after you have access to the market and sellable for some profit (don’t remember exactly how much, something aroung 20 echoes however) in the Iron Republic under certain circumstance.
I was referring to propagation after the first reward from the Mother shroom (that’s also a colour of the Grand Curator Quest). After you’ve get that reward are blemmie still avaible in exchange for Honey and could them be propagated in all the correct isles or just in the bugged Godfall?
maybe it’s the same, maybe not. i don’t recall the book descriptions being an exact match.
(and some games can be really technical…)
anyway, i did the original seven and dropped another pair of blemmies in a second round just to see.
honey / blemmie trade continued, but i didn’t try forcing the issue all the way to a second conclusion.
the impression i got was that if you score on another 7 locations, you get the same color reward.
same thing with the hunter’s eye, and the Curator only buys once, so it didn’t seem productive to continue.
have not been back since.
Well, i have the book in my hold, i’ll buy a Khan’s Heart one and check! The Stranger event it’s doable again, the Blemmie propagation no, you could buy Blemmie, but i don’t have the interactions in ports EXCEPT for Godfall, in that case, it’s exploitable and you could get another color item (that worth 800 echoes at the University).
Just an oddity, but why Caminus Yards ‘Compulsion’ it’s not sold by Caminus Yard shop? :D
[li]son of a …!!
i never even thought of trying to fence it on the university!
what, are they sponsored by Glidden?
but boy, that’ll sure put some in the money in the ol’ pocket!
see, this is why i don’t throw things away; you never know when treasure’ll turn to gold in these things…
I’m new to the forums, however I think I have come across another bug. The admirality sent me to bring in a report from the Chapel of Light somewhere north-east from London, however it is nowhere to be found. I was under the impression that it is somehow paired with the whole Wither/Codex- Island group, but I may be wrong there. Anyhow, I can not find it. Has anyone else come across a problem like this?
No, that’s just the map shuffle and the Chapel was a bit further east than the Codex so just keep going East along the North, should be there somewhere.
