Hey all,

So im hoping someone can answer this. I’ve been playing Fallen London since it was Echo Bazaar and now I’m running into endless brickwalls of no progress.

I’m a person of some importance, I have my ship I have hit end of story content in all directions.

I can see i should be aiming for a prestigious position. I can’t for the life of me see how to raise any state to 200. Am I really going to have to grind like I have been doing and maybe earn 1 new point in a state a week? or am I missing a whole host of storylets someplace that help increase my stats faster for higher level players?

Secondly my Notability has run out. It’s been 7 months now and I’ve not seen the Slowcake’s Anuminaris card Ever.

I can’t summon it without at least 1 point in Notability but the card never appears. I’m just wasting action after action. Have dumped about 15 nex in refreshing my cards to no effect.

Am I doing something wrong? I used to play Fallen London every day religiously. But now I’ve got no idea what to do.

Hi Aesc,

Improving stats is slow work when you’re close to 200 - there aren’t any standard storylets with challenges that high. What you can do, though, is use the social actions in your lodgings (chess etc.) to get second chances, and then convert those second chances into stat CPs. It’s the fastest way to progress, and faster than just grinding straightforward challenges. You may not want to do the sneak option, due to the impact on other parameters, so you can exchange casing in the Flit for Connected: Criminals which comes with a reasonable dollop of Shadowy along with it. The Connected:Criminals maxes out at 50, but as long as you remember to cash it in, it can be reasonably profittable.

As for Slowcakes, you need to ask someone who has at least two points and the Amaneusis card to hand to send you a point. That will get you started. I’d do it myself, but all my guys are in sustain mode at the moment and don’t have the MW to summon the elusive fellow.
