Asking because I’ve gotten into the habit of marrying then betraying people who aren’t my intended spouse just to remove their storylets from the list, and I’m worried about needing to go through a costly divorce if I end up marrying someone who I can’t just get rid of in the pursuit of my candle.
Many of the spouses now available were added after Seeking was implemented in its current form, and Failbetter has mostly left Seeking untouched since Alexis Kennedy left. I find it unlikely that any new spouse betrayals have been added and gone unnoticed.
The Artist, The Smuggler, all of the foreign office spouses, and the Missionary and the Firebrand can be betrayed. The difference between these and the newer spouses is you can actually lose them permanently, either due to losing the companion that actually allows it to happen or gaining a quality which prevents them from showing up again.
Most newer spouses have a separation instead of a divorce, so it’s essentially free to swap in and out. Sounds amoral but I’ve been doing so for high level renown boosting.
