Hello! I’m up to Intimate of Devils 10 at the moment. Could anyone tell me at which point I’ll be forced to sell my soul? Is there a non-Fate way to get it back afterwards? If I lose my soul, does it affect anything?
Thanks in advance!

You aren’t very far from a point where storylets will show up with a small chance (like 10% luck based) that you will be compelled to sell your soul. The only way to avoid the risk is a Fate option on the same card. I have no idea what losing your soul might do to your core charcater stats or whatever, but at the very least Summerset College of the Unversity will not assosiate with you, and you won’t be able to consistently grind Counting The Days, since one of the reliable options will not allow the soulless. However, it is apparently possible to get your soul back without Fate, though I have again never seen this first-hand.
The non-Fate method I know of to recover your soul is via the ‘Opening a Bundle of Oddities’ actions - the best of which being the "One’s Public" opportunity card, and selecting "Speak for a little while and ask them to disperse". The reason this is the best action for it is that you need the bundle’s hidden RNG value to be exactly 200, and that action has a range of 1-200 exactly.
Opening a Surprise Package from your inventory will give a possible range of 1-1008, which means it could still contain your soul but has a significantly lower chance of doing so.
Losing your soul causes the devil/deviless to abruptly lose all interest in you (they only want one thing, after all), and one of the factions at The University won’t be so fond of you if you’re among the 11% of London’s citizens who are without their souls.
As for being forced to sell it, I couldn’t say - I lost mine with an action that said "A matter of luck - how could you lose?"
As for the One’s Public action, 0.5% odds may seem tiny (and they are) but if you’re not in a rush to recover the thing then the wait isn’t much of an issue. My character has lost his soul an abundance of times.
Absolutely nothing. All penalties are perfectly balanced by bonuses, as all things should be.

Thank you for your quick answers, delicious friends! It is appreciated. If I may ask, do I profit from losing my soul?
If you sell your soul to them (specifically through the intimate of devils storyline), you’ll stop drawing their cards forever. This is profit enough for most people, including me.
You ended your acquaintance with the devils in a less reasonable way though, if I remember correctly.

You are never “forced” to sell your soul.
You can even now drop your Intimate of Devils quality if you start to refuse them instead of indulging them. When you are back to 1, you will only get the one devil card (the one whose text begins with “Er…”) and you can always discard it.
However since it is a frequent card, you can get rid of it too if you are willing to spend (a lot of) faith. When your intimate of devils is high, and you risk losing your soul, instad of taking the risk, or denying them, you can play the Fate option. This increases Intimate without the risk of losing your soul. After it gets to a certain level, they never pester you again.
If you want to hold on to your soul, either drop the Intimate to 1 and keep discarding the single card when it comes up, or use Fate to get rid of them for good.
Thank you for the all the help!
Out of interest, does your Intimate with Devils stat stay the same, just unusable, if you lose your soul? Or will it just reset to 0? Because if you are VERY patient, in the former case you could just keep climbing and at some point in the distant future you would not be pestered about it anymore perhaps?

If you sell your soul to them and then regain it, they’ll still leave you alone if I recall correctly.
They might get upset (and reset your Intimate of Devils stat) if you sell your soul to another source, though.

If it’s a card that comes around quite a lot, might be worth them holding it in their hand of cards, rather than discarding the thing. Can’t draw a card you already have, after all. :-)
unfortunately, there are usually at least two cards involved with each Rank of intimating, so at the very least you have to reduce the level to much lower so you only have one card to ‘capture’.
They might get upset (and reset your Intimate of Devils stat) if you sell your soul to another source, though.
To my knowledge, selling your soul via other means doesn’t reset your Intimate quality, but adds a new card to your deck. Searching… and this is the card in question.
