So I was just clicking through my opportunities like you do, and I clicked on a card only to be suprised by what I had clicked on. You see, I bought the Lodgings Above A Bookshop as the first lodgings I ever had, and of course it lost any value it had very quickly. It’s possibly the least valuable lodgings I have at all, and I have quite a lot since I didn’t know better than to get all the cheap lodgings just cos I could. So of course, it very regularly gets discarded.
The suprise here then, was that I clicked on this card ‘a dusty bookshop’, and it came up with a Mood storylet. AKA, a very rare and valuable card!
And then it hit me. That I, clicking quickly through my opportunity deck like I often do, in the past probably saw a stack of books on a card, with the word ‘bookshop’ in the title, and just threw that card away as garbage. Probably several times! And now I’m like aggggggh how many times did I miss out on a super helpful thing like that?
Now thankfully I had found and used ‘a dusty bookshop’ card a couple times before now, this wasn’t my first time ever finding it. But it was the first time I paid attention to how similar that card is to one that basically is a dead draw in my deck, and how that may have impacted my ‘luck’ in the game without me even knowing it. Has anybody else had something similar happen to them?

I think anybody who’s played the game long enough has accidentally discarded a Mood Card or accidentally chosen the wrong Mood on the card. You may rest assured that your error puts you in excellent company.
I trust you’ve not similarly ditched the card with, um, the hand of cards?
The one with the bookshop has happened to many of us, even after we’ve faithfully kept it safe in our hand for, ooh, days if not weeks.
Though that would never happen to Meradine, of course. Never!

Ah, the joy of these missclicks! :D
I’ve thankfully never dealt with horrifying misclicks like that yet, my speed is more during the inital card-sorting than the storylets within them.
I’ve accidentally thrown out the Amanuensis TWICE, but luckily have only sold the plant once. :)
And in my case, it’s the opposite; I’ve sold my plant twice, but only thrown out the Amanuensis once. But I’ve recovered from both; you can, too!

Days if not weeks…? pffftt I’ve had two mood cards in my hand for almost a year now… having used one and then got it again shortly after – now I’ve probably just jinxed myself to lose them!
Although, I’ve also thrown out the Amanuensis twice, the second time just after getting notability 15, very painful.
I’ve lost 7 Criminals Favours and gained a point of Turncoat by selecting the option that DIDN’T give me the items I need to convert into Fabulous Diamonds.
Sure, it was only 8 specific opportunity cards worth of actions - but the regret was real. :-p
