Wondering how to obtain Mutersalt. The Wiki is no help whatsoever.
Outside of paying Fate during a festival, there is only one chance, which cannot be repeated: while building tracks to the second station in the Railway. If you don’t know what the railway is, you’ll be a while, it’s endgame. If you’ve already built to Jericho, sadly the chance is gone.
Kind of weird it’s still that rare and hard to get for non-Fate players.
Thanks. That’s actually how I understood the Wiki, but it didn’t make sense (why would a necessary item be unobtainable without using FATE?) Yeh, my railroad has reached Infra-Mump and now I’m wanting to buy sausages but can’t…
But I do have some FATE stored up (they do hand out some occasionally to we non-subscribers), so maybe I’ll be able to get Mutersalt at the next Zee Festival…
You can gain Sausages from the High Sancta and from reliving Mr Chimes’ Grand Clearing Out in the Waswood. Unreliably, though.
What exactly do you need the Sausages for? I don’t remember them being overly useful.
I’m guessing lowering Tracklayers’ Displeasure, which is a very time-specific need.
It’s annoying that you can be permanently locked out of Fate-free Mutersalt, but you’ll find out that you don’t really need Mutersalt or Sausages for anything useful.
You can prepare a Fungal Paté in Station VIII instead to reduce Tracklayer’s Displeasure, it’s actually more effective than Sausages.
Or you can just ignore Tracklayer’s Displeasure, in-game effects are minor anyway.
BTW: unless your Ambition is Nemesis, you’ll never receive enough free Fate to buy Mutersalt. Even if you do have Ambition: Nemesis, I would recommend to spend your free Fate on something else, like a useful piece of equipment or a more impressive vanity item.
