What the HECK was the &quotGreat Rat Flood&quot mentioned in the text for getting paid for being a rat catcher? Is there any other information on it anywhere or is it sort of a &quotSpatula Incident&quot thing that doesn’t get talked about?

Not sure about the dating, but &quotGreat Rat Flood&quot certainly could describe the mythical &quotRatmas&quot. This is not the original, but it may provide some context.
